Default Cannot download game (Error #1034)

Whenever I log in and start to update the game / download it, it'll download for about 30 seconds then stop, give me the error: "Network Operation timed out. Please check your connection. (Error #1034)" then the Rift - Patcher crashes.

    Please help me fix this.

I've uninstalled the Beta client as well as deleted all leftover folders and files for it.

My internet is working fine (obviously).

I'm getting the same. I'm guessing it's because of the pressure on the download server.

I'd say try again in a few hours.

do you have a router? if so you may have ports being blocked
do you have antivirus running? if so you may have a firewall in it that may be blocking the program

Router ports 6520-6540 are forwarded for TCP like says in the FAQ. Antivirus firewall set to exclude Rift Patcher.

Restart your PC and verify that you have removed all traces of the previous beta client.

If you tried and failed... remove your 'corrupt' updater.

    Then try again.

Try to reset your router... cmd /ipconfig dnsflush, /ipconfig release, etc

Verify you are allowing the download via your anti-virus, try listing the website or updater as 'safe' with anti-viral (if you are anal)

I'm using Mcafee personally and haven't had any issues yet.

It's after midnight EST and I'm 3/8 gigs atm... download speed at 1.51MB/s

+1 to this, had this problem and as is the case with any download issue we have is because of Kaspersky being a busy-body. Added it to Exclusions and I've been honk-free for 20 minutes

    Default Antivirus

I am running Kaspersky and even though Rift application is "Trusted" it was preventing it for running for more than 15-20 seconds. Turn off antivirus temporarily and download.

Anti virus and blocked ports on your firewall should prevent the download from even starting. I'm sure some of you are actually having those symtoms. But what a lot of us are experiencing is that several gigabytes are downloaded and then we get the network timeout errors. Most likely this is simply their download servers getting overwhelmed and crashing. Not much you can do about that but try again after 10 minutes or so.

I keep getting a ding that says downloaded file failed to launch after prompting me to update the patcher, any ideas why? (antivirus is turned off btw)
