    Default performance fix/work around.

ok, i dont know if this is allowed, but i found that doing this fix i went from 20/30 fps on ultra to 60/90 fps with a low dip now and then to 50.

    My spec:
Intel Core i7 980x Six Core Processor @5ghz 12gb ddr3 corsair, 1tb samsung sp corsair 60gb ssd gaming drive.
    HD 5970 toxic 4gb 1000/1500
    http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloa...e.php?id=34970

you will find a download link to a dx9.dll, this dll was used by people like me when playing fallout new vegas, this game used the same gamebro engine and version, and i had the same poor performance for my ATI, all you do is place this DLL in your rift folder and it will be loaded, you should see an instant frame rate boost.

it works for me, i hope if work for you, use at your own risk.

    edit to add better links
    NVIDIA: http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778
    ATI: http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34970

    For Ati and nvidia> D3D9Gen_b3-34970 http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34970

use this, it will allow you to make a Dll with a selected card, i use a HD 5970, i asked it to make the dll for that card, i used this dll with the game and got even more performance out of it.

I was looking for something like this, Fallout NV runs the exact same way for me that Rift does, I'll test this out and report back.

Edit: Yeah I get a slight boost, maybe 15 frames.. still jerky though.

Looks like the linked file is the d3d9 dll for ati cards? There is another one on site for Nvidia users.

Apparently it works by forcing the game to play as if you had a 7800gtx or a x1900 or something like that, some sort of profile difference that works better with the game than the defaults of more modern cards.

Hey, it worked for me for New Vegas, so maybe it helps here, too?

Interesting, I'll have to give that a test after work.

Any noticeable difference in graphics? You'd think that using settings for an old video card might disable certain advanced features.

This helped me significantly. I was at around 30-50fps and now 40-60+ very nice.

I'll try this now. For the record, everything on Max 1920x1080.

EDIT: If you're supposed to drop it into C:\Program Files (x86)\RIFT Beta\RIFT Beta - No difference whatsoever. If you're supposed to drop it somewhere else, please tell.

i dunno where you guys have it installed, but the beta is installed on D:\Users\jesus\AppData\Local\RIFT for me, to find the right place to put it, just use the find target when you look at the properties of the shortcut you use to launch the game.

It highly depends on the system configuration. UAC does weird things with games, which is why I install most games outside OS-controlled folders (I have a separate drive even). The best way to find it is to right-click the shortcut and "open file location".

I'll give this a shot when I get home. I don't have unplayable FPS or anything, but it's clear having been in beta since beta 2 that there is some common cause to the low FPS people are seeing across the board.

    keep posting.

if you use it please post your graphic card and what Dll you use, and how it effected your fps, im hoping this will help alot of people and the rift team will take notice and figure out why this works and help them to fix their game.

I'd hope not.. There would be something seriously wrong if you couldn't max out this game with $1500 worth of video cards
