Default What should my settings be with this computer set up?

This is my computer I3-550 3.20ghz with 6gig of ram, radeon hd 5570 1gd2, monitor is a lg flatron W222TQ, no computer skill at all, took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to upgrade my video driver on windows 7. I just got this as a gift, specifically to play Rift, what settings including resolution should I play in on? Or would it be better to play it on a 61" 1080i?
I wanting to play on what ever would look the best.

You got it as a gift, specifically to play RIft? LoL....

I'd be aiming for low/1080. The GPU is below average, so I wouldn't be expecting to much.

Default long story about the gitt

The short of it is, guildy from DDO wanted me to come play this game, owed me a little money, so he bought this cpu said it should play the game fine. My other cpu would only play rift on med to low settings.

If u got ATI Radeon™ HD 5570 Graphics card your graphic card is not the one holding you back . i would say it is the CPU .

I got a Worse Video card and i got ATI Radeon HD 4770 but i got = Processor : Intel Core i5 650 3,20 Ghz and i can run RIFT on Medium with MINIMUM lagg . its just a few time in major invasions and raids i get a small amount of lagg .

But i can also run it on hige if i am just running around doing quests and avoid invasions and rifts .

But The ATI radeon Hd 4770 sucks . i am aiming for a Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5

then i probably going to run the game on hige with no lagg at all . So i think you only need a better CPU (Processor)

I would go for a Intel i7 dual/quad then u do not need to think about a new cpu for a loooong time .
And btw i only got 4 gb ddr3 ram . so the only thing i win on is the CPU , so i think thats all u need .

Just a small Fact The Intel series goes like this
    Core 2 duo(crap)
    I3(not that good)
    I5(Average)
    I7(good)
Then u got some brand new ones but they are pricy .

Mate, are you for serious? His GPU is a HTPC non gaming card, saying that a 3.2Ghz Dual core i3 is holding back a 5570 is a joke if every I've heard one.

You must be confused.. the HD4770 was a killer card at the time for it's price ($100), it kept up with the HD4850/9800 GTX etc

and the i3s are quite potent gamers due to their high clocks where multi-threading (>3) isn't in place.. (about 80%+ of games), staying within a couple FPS of i5s with "Turbo"

I'm a self labeled ATI fan, mainly due to the CHEAP performance (90% performance for 60% cost) but make no mistake about it the i3/i5 dual core/quad thread CPUs are quite respectable in gaming.. not so in the e-peen race maybe.

@OP (Utahsaint) worry not, your rig is respectable and at most I would suggest a VGA upgrade, something along the lines of a GTX 460 768MB or HD5770 if you want to play at 1080P
