    Default Which processor for RIFT?

I have a 2.2GHz quad core, and a 2.8GHz dual core. just not sure which one would run RIFT better. both are AMD.

Or my home made dual 1HP rotary cascade

Seriously though, I'd probably be inclined to say the dual for raw MHz over the slow quad. You'd really have to test that ingame to know the answer.

I'd try both, but my experience of playing Rift on a dual core system is one of near-100% load on both cores at all times (even when nothing is happening) and my CPU is 3GHz. I am really unsatisfied, but I was due for an upgrade anyway.

I suspect that, while slower, the quad core would perform better purely because it would share some of the load on other cores. One of the stickies says that all the different functions of the game are threaded, but will primarily use one core before being shared across the rest of the available cores.
If at first you don't succeed, threaten to quit unless it's nerfed.
