    Default worth upgrading?

    I have a x58 pro mobo msi I think, and a core i7 920 with a gtx 580 and 4 gigs ram.

I was thinking of trying one of the newer i7 2600 and a new intel sandy bridge 1155 board out. Is this a giant waste of cash or would I actually see some decent improvements?

unless you are rocking one of the extreme edition 1500+ dollar CPU's then yes.

    Intel Core i7 970 @ 3.20GHz 9924 4 11.03 $899.99**
    Intel Core i7-2600K @ 3.40GHz 9287 8 28.14 $329.99**
    Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.07GHz 6346 31 21.89 $289.95*

there is about a 50% increase in CPU power going from a 950 to a 2600K, so for you there would be more than 50%.

good information, ty. Should I wait until April for the "fixed" B3 sandy bridge mobos, or are the nforce ones just as good for a 2600k?
