    Default Opinion on this deal!

    Hey everyone,

this deal popped up on newegg's daily deals list and i wanted to know your opinion of it. This would be for my nephew who really likes mmo's. I know its not a top of the line system but i just want to know could it play RIFT? It does not have to be on the highest setting's, he would be happy as long as its playable. No immediate FPS issues and things like that. Also it seems that with this there could be room for upgrades? Add a better video card and CPU further down the line, or am i mistaken with that thought?
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

They are both good deals but would still (IMHO) require a video card upgrade, probably a 6850/gtx 460... the crazy being that the $256 Ahtlon II X3 with a 6850/gtx 460 would cost under $500 and still be able to play most any game with acceptable fps.

Correct me if im wrong, but based on what your saying that combo deal for $256, matched with this

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-348-_-Product

and he should be able to play RIFT reasonably well?

as long as you don't expect to play at 2560 with supersampling and Ultra effects.. gaming is about finding a balance between performance and features. The less you spend the fewer effects you can expect.

    http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/p...iele_1680x1050 <-5870 about 15% faster then 6850
http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/p...iele_1680x1050 <- AMD Athlon II 435 is about 20% slower then an i5 760 despite costing 50% (way) less for just the CPU

No of course, not looking for something high end. Just something to get the job done on a medium setting, and this way it seems i have set him up for something that he could upgrade further if he wanted to.

Thank you for all your help!
