    Default AMD running with NVIDIA?

Can an AMD CPU run efficiently with a NVIDIA GPU and vice versa? No opinions, cool facts please.

Yes, it makes little difference in what GPU is combined with an AMD cpu. The limitation is in combined GPU's, unless you have a motherboard that has a hydra chip you cant mix GPU's, for example a 6950 and a GTX 480 wont work together unless the hydra chip helps them work it out.

As for AMD with ATI or Nvidia you can run anything, supposedly an ATI GPU will run slightly better with an AMD CPU but I haven't seen this evidence in benchmarks.

Technically, AMD/ATI GPUs are supposed to be paired with AMD CPUs, and Nvidia GPUs are supposed to be paired with intel, but I don't even really think there's that much of a visable difference in benchmarks I've seen, and, if there is, it's just because one of the processors was better/worse.

I've ran AMD with Nvidia for a year now with my 460 and 6 months before that with my GTS 250, and no problems.

Yes AMD runs very well with Nivida cards if you can find motherboards that can support them.

I am running AMD x6 1090T with 2 PNY GTX 580s in sli using a MSI NF980-G65 motherboard.

Just check the computer parts sellers, like newegg, and look for the motherboard that matchs the parts that you want to use.

    This is completely untrue.

it doesn't really matter unless the motherboard itself is built to run ATIs (Crossfire-ready instead of SLI-ready for example)

Yup. The statement is opinion by people who usually don't know any better. Your computer won't care who the components are from in most cases, though their respective makers may feel otherwise. ;)

I run AMD processor with Nvdia gpu. runs great.

Later on with SLI that another story, single gpu wise its fine. CAn get mobo to support need.

Some aspects with ATI/ATI pairs will be lsot for meory access but not enough to really matter.
    NOTICE:
I would be glad to give you some cheese with your whine. However there is a milk shortage. All the cows felt sorry for you and cried you a river, and drowned.

    Poor cows.

Yup, I run an AMD 1090T paired with an Nvidia 480 GTX. Runs fine!

Clarify? I've never heard of memory problems with ATI/ATI. (well, now it would be AMD/AMD post-merger)

    Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T Processor (6 CPUs), ~4.0GHz

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
    Manufacturer: NVIDIA
    Chip type: GeForce GTX 460

    Motherboard = Nvidia 980a ASUS

    4 gig DDR3 Ram

That's my rig, and it runs Rift at max everything with no problemo. I turned shader quality down a tad and AA to edges merely to boost performance when in massive rifts. (Was seeing a minor slow down)
