We have found this can be caused by having your system date and time set incorrectly. Setting to the proper date and time should resolve issue. Also, right click the icon and select Run as Administrator.

My time is set automatically & updates each day from time servers as do all Windows 7 operating systems with an active internet connection.

I also double-checked & updated it manually & it hasn't changed by even 1 second, so no, that was not the problem.

    Any other suggestions?

    Absolutely!

First, try reducing the number of background tasks running along with RIFT. Then, right-click on the RIFT launcher and select Run as Administrator.

If you still have trouble, let us know! You can also submit a ticket for some one on one assistance, if needed.

    Thanks!
