Sure why not... Win8 is only a win7 with another interface. Nothing big more... ;)
But you will not use win8.. because its primary for touch-systems and the metro interface ist not really "perfect" for desktop-computers.

Win 8 is NOT primarily meant for touch users, its the successor to WIN 7 - a desktop os. The whole metro-ui can be disabled if you dont like it.

I really hope this is sarcasm or a joke. Most uninformed thing I've read today.
Yes, Rift and every other game I've tried works fine on Windows 8, though you will likely need to update Direct X to a newer version after installing.
If you're installing on your main computer, keep in mind this is still a beta. Expect quirks. ;)
Rift will turn you into a man. Or make you cry.
Has anyone of you used win8 yet? If not.. you should try ;)
It works good on touchpads but the whole os is beeing optimized for touch-input. Thats good in some terms but bad is other terms.
For example, there is no.. absolutly no... startmenü anymore.
In the consumer-preview you are not able to deactivte the Metro completely like in the developer preview version some month ago.
In the consumer-preview version you have to switch between the metro and desktop style every time...
There are more changes that are good for touch-input but are not so good for mouse-keyboard input.
You can look for reviews of the win8 consumer preview. All are saying the same:
"Win8 looks like a system that tries to combine the two worlds of input-possibilities but there is one problem: you will always get problems if you try to combine those two worlds - because there is no way to combine these two worlds without harming the usability of one of those. "
There is absolutly no review that tells "ohhh win8 is sooooo good for desktop-computers"... no...
You have to install a "newer version" of Direct X on Win7 too if you just installed windows 7.
A beta that shows how the final of win8 will look and feel. There wont be any big changes anymore. Little changes.. yes. But no userinterface changes.
I've tested, Rift does not even launch on Windows 8 "Consumer Preview", it was tested in a fully installed OS with all drivers present and non-virtualized. I was running the 64-bit version.
The new Windows 8 version is interesting enough to poke around with, but it should hardly be called anything but a beta, it kept freezing randomly and some programs (such as HWmonitor) completely froze the OS until a hard-reboot was made.

To Delarcia, the quotes you responded to were aimed at the OP, not you. I'm 100% happy with the Consumer Preview, love the metro UI, and haven't experienced any crashes or programs failing to run (though im not naive enough to claim these problems don't exist for others, it is a beta). The corner gestures easily replace and provide the same functionality as the Start Menu, and do it with style. Its a big change, but the world will get used to it, or stick with Win7. Or XP. ;)
Bottom line, haters gonna hate.
Rift will turn you into a man. Or make you cry.
