Over doing this coin lock a bit.
I love the security measures Rift has. However one thing REALLY annoys me. When there is a new computer or a new ip address, I think the coin lock is great. But to make a person unlock ever single shard they are on is a bit annoying. I can see having it locked in general before one logs on, or maybe just one shard. If the person can unlock that shard then they probably have access to the email of the ones account that was stolen. So having to unlock every shard is a bit pointless.
For me more so. I am triple booting at the moment. Vista, giving Windows 8 developers preview a run as well as running Debian linux (or what ever linux I am in the mood for.)
Rift on Windows 8 works great, Vista so-so and I want to see if I can get Rift to run with wine eventually. In the last week I had to unlock the coin lock twice already. Once because my ip address changed and now, that worst one yet, because I am using Win8. I am really hope if I go back to Vista with the game I don't have to do all of this over again.
I won't put screen names and password on win8 yet, if at all, since the preview expires March 12, 2012. So to run it in Win8 I need to log into every shard, then reboot into Debian or Vista. Write down the shards and codes, reboot back into Win8 and go back to every shard again to unlock everything...
I think this needs to be revisited. It is a good feature but too much of it is not.
Also: I am not sure how this forum works. But I came over from World of Warcraft and posts like this would get a lot of hate replies. I hope this forum does not tolerate that. I am also not sure if this is in the correct spot.
This is a great game so far, especially considering it hasn't been out that long. I think it has great potential.
