Exclamation Game Crashing on the "Rift" logo screen

I bought the game yesterday and haven't been able to play at all.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with DirectX 11, 4 gb RAM, etc

First it kept telling me to download latest version of DirectX... then it stopped and I finally got the game to start... after the opening video when the whole screen is covered with the Rift logo.. BAM! the game crashes.

It says Rift has encountered a problem and gives me 2 options, Send report and continue playing or send report and close. I click Send report and continue but it keeps showing the same screen and popping the same error endlessly. Any advice? I paid $60 bucks and got a 6 month subscription in advance only to be sitting in the computer for 2 days trying to play this with no success.

I've played Dekaron and WOW smoothly on this computer before.

Well those are older type games, so dont need much of a system to play.

    post your dxdiag.

Almost tempted to not offer assistance after I saw the imac part. But anyway, I'll take one for the team. How excatly did you get DirectX error message to stop showing? Because this game is DX9, so you'll need to go to the MS website & download the DX9 Redist & install that.

Also, what graphics card is in that thing?

What's wrong with a $2k imac? I didn't buy a computer for gaming but for my job as a graphic designer. Gaming is just for dealing with boredom, and until now it's worked just fine.

    I downloaded this from microsoft
    DXSDK_Jun10.exe
    571.7MB

And tried to install but it failed. I downloaded the web installer and it said "you have a newer version that doesn't need to be updated" and it closed. Restarted the computer and the game ran fine... until the crash.

I'm now downloading something called directx_jun2010_redist.exe that is only 96 mb and will try that

What a side splitter, gotta love there marketing team. You pay 2K for an imac with a dual core/4670 in it & you ask what's wrong with an imac? Those two components together are worth about $80 MAX.

Anyway, I'll TRY (not making any promises) not to stray from the issue. Try this one, it worked for me in the past.
