    Default Error #2005 -

So far we've done everything suggested to try and fix the error.
Changed the Date & Time as suggested by Trion(Both Bios & Windows, tried local time and server time). Didn't work.
Tried pinging the server, and that worked, but still no dice on the patcher doing anything.
Tried restoring files & redownloading the client. Didn't work.
Tried clearing config files and restarting. Was asked for the "Zone" again, choose the United States option, and received the 2005 error again.
Hardware resets(Modem & Router), Connecting directly to the modem, resetting the modem, etc

    Additional information:
Can't connect to the forums to post about it, can't log in to the account.

Sent an email to Tech Support about 18 hours ago, still no response.

    ISP: Mosaic

Try resetting your IP. You can call your ISP to find out how that is done with them.

My partner and I have had the same issue for the last 48 hours. We can't log in to the game, can't log into the account page and can't log into the forums. I am ONLY able to log in now through a proxy server. We have reset the IP and MAC multiple times, had our ISP run a trace route, we've pinged, rebooted the modem and changed settings multiple times. This has become an extremely frustrating experience for us, especially paying a subscription for something you can't access. I certainly hope Trion is working on this problem and plans on responding to those of us waiting for updates on our tickets and phone calls.

Something is messed up server side, or there is an issue with routing.

Why do I say that? Because today our server was supposed to have 4:00 AM resets on everyone's lockouts, yet we were all still saved to yesterday's Expert Modes.
Trion needs to solve this issue, ASAP.

I'm posting this for a friend who can't log into the forums, account management or the game.

    Greetings,

Sometime around the time the coin locked feature went live I started receiving a:

Failed to connect to the authentication server. (Error #2005)

This error does not allow me to login to the game, forums, or even account management. I can actually goto ALL of these pages but I receive somesort of 404 error when I attempt to login.

    I've tried the following solutions:

    -Resetting my windows clock
-Running selfpatchlive from the Rift game folder.
-Removing all Rift Beta files from the PC.
-Logging into Rift with just my password.
    -Reset my modem and router.

None of the above have worked, and I'm completely locked out.

    Please help!!!

This is the error he gets when he tries to log in the forums:

The webpage at https://session.trionworlds.com/logi...5&gateway=true might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

Resetting your IP only works on DSL lines, for cable modem lines, you'll have to have your ISP do that.
    Its a PITA.

Also, we emailed Trion about this issue days ago, and still no answer.

    Found a workaround:

Post This program free to use.

It provides a temporary workaround for those with the IP Auth issue.

    Download: http://battleping.com/setup/BattlePingTemp1.0.exe

    WHAT DOES IT DO?
Your connection will run through a Battleping server for the Rift Login.
1 IP is used for the Login button on the Patcher, then the same IP again to bring up the Shard/Character selection screen.
All connections from you to our server will use 128-bit encryption.

Once you enter the game world you will switch back to using your normal connection.

    HOW TO USE:
    1. Install then restart computer.
    2. Open Battleping and click Connect.
A connection window will pop up.
(A security prompt will show the first time you connect - press Y)
    3. Open Rift. and have fun.

    NOTES:
You can leave this running while you play. Or you can close Battleping once you are in the Game World.
If you choose to close it then alt-tab and re-connect to Battleping when you want to switch characters or shard.

    OPTIONS.
    Port: Leave this on defult.
Port 2 is there incase you are unable to connect due to the defult port been blocked by a firewall.
    Update: No explination needed.

HOW CAN I POST ON THE FORUM?
    Create a Username here: http://battleping.com/register.php

I scanned it with Kapersky, all is clean, and it worked for us. Hope it works for you guys.

I don't know if its a seperate error, related or not, but I went to add my friend's characters on to my new char's friendlist, and none of them existed anymore.

Then I was able to create new characters with those names, so clearly they were lost or deleted...

Can anyone else confirm that this program works? I'd download and test it myself but I'm in the middle of deployment.

are you able to login to the website? if so, try changing your password from the website.

if not, try turning the clock on your PC back one hour (uncheck the "set from internet" option first)
if that does not work, set it Ahead one hour.

One of the three, or a combination should get you online, let us know <3

So basically...A bunch of people are using the same IP address and will have to remove Coin Lock status on their accounts for that IP...Allowing hackers to use that IP to hack accounts again. Great idea ;)

    Shirls,

You are obviously a ****** and troll. WoW when it launched for ALMOST A YEAR had server outages every couple of days that lasted for hours up until days. This has been the best launch of any game as the servers are actually UP and haven't "crashed" yet.
