Default Combat logging in party crashes game

Don't know what caused it. Previously I was able to run my combat log whenever without problem. However, for the past few days whenever I try to /combatlog in a party or raid where a lot of stuff is going on, my game lags pretty horribly until it crashes. When I log back in it typically says the crash was likely caused by a corrupt file and I should repair them. No idea how to do this as there's nothing in the install folder or on the launcher and haven't been able to find info on this anywhere.

shameless bump. Also ran the recover feature. Had no effect. Going to try reinstalling later today.

    Question

i got the exact same problem
combatlogging worked really fine the whole beta and the first weeks of release
but some days ago it started to lag really bad whenever i start typing "/combatlog"
the file named combatlog is created correctly and it grows in sice, so i think it does work
but needs way too much performence

i even switched the installationdirection to another HD
    i defragmented all my HDs
i installed Rift Alpha to test it on a Alpha Server => problem occurs on Live Server and on the TestRealms
i scanned my HDs for Errors => no single one was found

    problem still occurs,
plz if u got the same problem and found a solution or tipp... plz post it!

    thx
    ghaz

You might go into your rift folder and check the size of your Combat Log text file. It can grow quite large over time. Try removing it and seeing if you still crash.

    Edit:
And by remove, I mean delete it and allow it to create a new one.

If you are using a parser check to see if it can split the logs at a certain size. I know ACT will.

But previous posts are correct, you will excede the file size limit pretty quick if you log alot. (these combat logs are really big, way to big).

p.s. I rename mine, when I do use them, at the end of each session.

I wrote a little C# tool that zips mine and sticks it out on my storage drive at the end of every rift session.

well... combatlog.txt grows in sice, act can read it...
but the problem does occure even if act isnt started.

deleting the txt doesnt solve the prob.

    Lightbulb

    gr8...
just for fun i disabled my resident protection of AVG-Antivirus
=> pam...seems to work again, no laggs so far while Combatlogging

Solution: Disable Resident Protection of Antivirus Programs
or make an exception for Rift in the Resident Protection options
