Angry No FPS Improvement After Upgrade

I was previously playing RIFT with an Intel Dual-Core 2.8ghz with an Nvidia GTS 250. With max settings I got a whopping 10-20 fps.

I just spent a pile of money for an i7 2500k OC 5ghz with an Nvidia GTX570. With max settings I get a whopping... 10-20 fps.

I'd check the drivers but do feel your pain.

I went from a Core2duo at 3.45 ghz with an nvidia 8800GT to the same cpu and Hd Radeon 5870 and saw no difference.

But did today upgrade the cpu to an Intel 2600k and saw a 30 fps frame rate increase with better settings. So I would assume it's a driver thing.

I have the 2600k, can't edit my OP. I have the latest driver from Nvidia. I guess I will hunt around the internet and see what I can find.

Shouldn't you be updating to ATI drivers?

I have the same kit...2500k (not OC'd) and GTX570 and averaging 35 outdoors in Sanctum and around 47-55 outdoors in Gloam and Gorge.

I've got everything maxed except I kept shadow quality on 1 instead of 2 and no AA.

I just upgraded my system after seeing the terrible performance of my old one.

    Intel Core i7 960 @3.2 GHZ
    12G G-Skill 1600MHZ
DUAL ATI 5850's in crossfire Running on 11.4 Beta drivers
    128G Crucial SSD

on ultra i run at 100-110 FPS in the world with drops down to 60 if lots of people around
in Sanctum i get between 30-50 FPS no matter what

When i disable crossfire i drop FPS by a good bit

But it is running VERY smooth for me atm since i got rid of my single ATI 5770

You are doing something wrong, check some of my previous specs and benchmarks. As long as your settings are right, meaning avoid super sampling and full shadows, and game AF, you should be fine.

My perf was 20fps dual core, 30fps with sandy bridge, and 60++ after an SLI upgrade.

Agreed. Something isn't working correctly with the OP's system. You should see a sizeable upgrade in graphics in general with the 570 and a very solid upgrade in crowded areas thanks to the CPU upgrade.

I have an ASUS P8P67 Deluxe with a corsair hx850. I'll play with my settings and report back.

EDIT: I'm now getting 80-100fps. It was the AA causing all of the problems.
