    Question Resurect MapExtension

I would like to expand MapExtension into the new content it has not yet been updated into, I am not a programmer though, just a savant that tends to teach himself how to do things, I just cannot make much structural sense of what I found in the notepad translations of the files.

any code writers that can lend me a hand would be greatly appreciated

Just some quick background on RIFT addons:

Rift Addons are written in a subset of LUA: http://www.lua.org/start.html
It has a specific API you can use: https://www.seebs.net/rift/live/index.html
You should use a proper text editor that has LUA syntax hightlighting rather than notepad: http://lua-users.org/wiki/LuaEditorSupport

Now, as for MapExtension, I've had a quick look and it doesn't look too complicated.

The two most important directories appear to be:

*img* - contains various images, including maps. You'll need to add additional images and maps to this
*lua/data* - This is the all the data. You'll need to add extra data in here.

It looks like the rest you can mostly ignore, it is pretty generic code and should be able to handle any updates without too much issue.

The most complicated of the files you need to update is the "preload.lua" file. It looks like this file has been "machine generated" and wasn't done by hand since it has no new lines.

I don't know what or how the original data was generated but it's source "may" have been the data in the "rift_discoveries" zip you can find here: https://webcdn.triongames.com/addons/assets/

    Hope that helps.
