    Default Combat log/Absorption End of Event/Abilty log marker

    Having played Wow for a very long time as a disc priest I have seen this many years ago before blizzard addressed this very issue.

    The trouble is in the combat log, there is no end of event for an absorption/shield such as Symbol of the Torch. When comparing Rift combat logs to other games this is the only real difference that affects the way they can be recorded and prevents absorbs from being accurately tracked. To track absorbs the way the combat log currently outputs the data would require a VERY complex program to try and reconstruct the events. You would need to run the math for every line tracking each and every absorb as a separate event to be able to get an accurate idea of how fast the shield decayed or was broken. This would require a GREAT deal of time to create such a program as 1 does not exesist for such a thing. It would also require a good deal of time to parse the combat log out and recreate the math on the absorbs.

    It really would be much simpler from a user/gamer stand point if the combat log would mark the end of the shield and any remaining value that was left on the shield when it expired. If it was fully absorbed this value would read 0. This would allow for VERY simple tracking of all absorbs AND absorption overhealing could also easily be tracked based on the remaining value and the time the shield was in place for.



    I'm aware that the API is undergoing work but I don't think this even falls into that category. This is just needing a marking added into the log. To take this even further and truly prefect the combat log an opening line for the name of the npc or fight taking place that signifies a start of combat AND a closing line that shows the end of combat with that encounter would greatly increase the accuracy of ALL damage/healing meters AND combat log parsers.


    I'm know this isn't just a simple add 1 or 2 lines of coding and I'm not even sure if this has been addressed for this type of addition/correction.

    Download Super Meter, Only Rift parser with an absorb converter. And yes you are right the overhead is a bit big but still 100% better than external parsing.
