    Default Problems with special characters

In my attempt to translate Money Bar over to German and French I've ran into the problem that strings with special characters in them don't seem to work correctly.

    English
    gmoa_text:SetText(MoneyBar.GetStack("Greater Mark of Ascension"))

    French
    gmoa_text:SetText(MoneyBar.GetStack("Marque d'Ascension supérieure"))

I basically turned on chat log, had the addon dump all of the currencies, and then copy and pasted from the chat log file. Is there any way to get this to work that anyone has found?

Convert your .lua files to UTF8 format. That's it.

Can you not use the name given out from Inspect.Currency.Detail() ?

    for k,v in pairs(Inspect.Currency.Detail(Inspect.Currency.Lis t())) do
    dump(v)
    end

Saves having to have all the different translations done.

Admittedly its a bit of a pain working out which currency is which - in my MoneyBags addon, I ended up doing it by matching the icon given from Inspect.Currency.Detail()

If you use Notepad++ then you can use the menu "Encoding" and then select "Convert to UTF8".

Once you've done that, go in to the options and ensure all new documents are created as UTF8.

A more reliable method is checking the id. The currencies are just usual items and all have their unique id which is the same on all languages and characters.

    For example, "I40FE419D87662CDA,018726C4E158FF25,,,,,," is Planarite.

That's not a bad idea, I might change it to do that instead.

Ahh! I wasnt sure this was the case - since it seems that other id's are unique to the player/session.

But yes, if they are consistent - and it my ID for planarite matches yours - then that would indeed be simpler!
