    Default Particle effects?

One of the most useful, to me, WoW addons was _Cursor, which did nothing but give your cursor particle effect trails. I have a really hard time seeing cursors sometimes and this helped a ton.

Also I want to add explosions to GoofBall.
You can play WoW in any MMO. You don't have to play WoW in RIFT. Oh, and no, RIFT is not a WoW clone. Not having fun any more? Learn to play, noob! I don't speak for Riftui, but I moderate stuff there. Just came back? Welcome back! Here's what's changed. (Updated for 2.5!)

Pretty sure that's just a chain of image stamps, not the particle-effects stuff you could do in WoW.

The WoW addon is doing exactly the same, there are no "particles" in the UI.
It all depends on the images used and how they are animated.

Really? I thought it was using the game's casting animations, which I thought were particle effects...

Huh, there is some really fancy animation stuff there, with facings and everything. It's not just simple image placement; apparently there's a :SetFacing() that we don't have.

Oh well, the WoW UI can display in-game 3D models, so maybe they display the model of a particle effect. But it can be done with 2D textures too, just needs more math for rotating/scaling/translating.

I think it must be 3D models, plus some clever stuff to allow for moving trails.
