Dumb move. Really dumb, because now they look super stupid when they have to reopen one of them because the only one left is always full. Couldn't they have predicted this??

I'm still really against splitting the population by opening another rp server... my main hope is that the server can be expanded to incorporate the existing population in a lagfree way. I just don't see any really beneficial way to open up another rp server at this point imo: either they would have to force a split of the population, which would break apart a lot of the community events and rp going on and relationships, or they would open one up and let players transfer open on their own: but this would ultimately end up just making the new server a low population one since most would elect to stay with the main group, and it would suffer many of the issues that led to this in the first place. Merging the previous shards wasn't a bad move imo, it just needs to be followed up on (since those shards were having legitimate issues). On a personal note, I like having the rp populations consolidated into one shard, and I love seeing a lot of the new faces/guilds, I don't think that the shard feels populated in the respect that I feel there are too many people in overland areas, the only population concerns for me at least are ones that end up relating to lag issues.

Oh, and here's an idea.
Don't allow trial accounts on Faeblight. That'll probably solve half our problem right there.
And close transfers TO the server...

Not a happy camper. Why do I pay money to play a game I can't log into. Especially, when I was forced to move to an over full server. Fix this please.
FARMING RAIDS! I had to wait because two guys are running twenty man bot raids.
This has nothing to do with head start. This is Trion made frustration for paying players. Don't stick up for their ineptitude. I was there at head start. I chose a server that did not have wait times. Now I'm on a server that I can't play. Trion could have merged two lower servers but they have no fore site. People will leave the game if they can't play it. If this is not fixed I will leave. There are plenty of games out there.Some people weren't around for 18 hour queues during headstart
I fully support an additional server for the RP fans (PVP-RP please, as there are NONE o' those left). There seems to be plenty of support for playing in an RP environment.... witness my being number 130 in que with a wait time of 20ish min (had I actually sat through it to get in).
IMO your post is a little extreme. Trion offers several FREE methods to avoid a long que. Free, weekly shard transfer is your friend. Get together with your friends and/or your guild and find a temporary home on a low populated PVE server. Instant, vastly improved playtime/quality. A perfect solution? Nope. "Temporary"? yes
Trion seems to be much better than most mmo companies at giving their player base what they want. Take advantage of a free move with your friends for a couple weeks and then come back when the populations stabilize. I have been spending the night on my lowbie Defiant set of characters on my alt server.

Any guarantee we'd be able to transfer back in a couple of weeks? That's why I have opted to start a new character on another server until this mess (hopefully) gets sorted rather than transfer out any of my main characters.

Not 100%. But if you couldn't transfer back that means that the shard is worse off than it is now (Faeblight is still open to transfer) and you may not want to step into a worse mess than the current one. I'm fairly new to Rift (Oct 2011) but have confidence that Trion will come up with something. Gripe and complain so that the devs understand the extent of the issue but avoid "the sky is falling" reactions, IMO.
I like your solution of just rolling an alt. It will give a change of pace yet preserve your main character for offpeak hours.
Just as in head start: You can always move servers if you feel this server has too many people in it. Transfers are free and once a week, after all.
Why should I have to move??! I have a very large guild that was already forced to move TO Faeblight! So, do you think our entire guild is going to move? No, it hurt us to move in the first place. We should not have to move again. Trion made a mistake in combining all three RP servers.
Also, are you aware of this? Play RIFT™ for free with RIFT Lite. Join your friends on any server and play levels 1-20 for as long as you like at no charge.
Why??!! People get on any server free??!! So, if they get online first we wait. Free players = lag as well. Also, free players = farming bots. Bots ruin the economy. If they want to let people play 1 - 20 free put them on Harrow or some other trial server.
I have a right to complain. I'm not the type who will sit back and let them take my money without giving me value.
So, my message to Trion is look into this. Fix it. That is not too much to ask. And, I will talk with my money. It is my right to do so.
