I agree. Under all of Trions clauses, rules, and regulations Faeblight is a special case because there are no other RP servers. Asking RPers, or anyone that has been here for a year, because new players to the server basically want to butt people out is extremely unjust and will only cause pains for Trion down the line since they would have shown they are unwilling to draw a line in the sand and say to the trolls, "You shall not pass!".

I remember there was a troll on Faeblight a while ago. His name was Saito. He was on many ignore lists, but I eventually got to know him and he ended up being a very friendly guy who just liked to have fun. He never ever meant to hurt anyone and if he did he was always the first to admit his mistake for crossing the line and apologize. I was personally witness to this in vent many many times. He also organized many events for the community, open to all members, to solidify us as one. I miss him. Some may not like him still, but if you ever did get the chance to talk to him or attend any of his raid rifts you would know what I'm talking about.

There are several levels to trolling. Some can just be ignored and are not hurtful. Some are very obvious and you can just let it go. But, others, the ones that actually want you to quit the game and kill yourself, the ones that have nothing but the worst intentions in mind, don't belong here.

The forums have several threads about the sorry state that RP is currently in with details on what is happening. It’s shameful. It’s detrimental to the community and to the game. Anyone that is new to RPing that sees or reads about the harassment and the feeling of being unable to do anything about it, is going to think twice about even trying RP or, if they have a trial account, getting the game period.
You will very rarely see anyone get any type of ban- especially for something as silly as "griefing". If you ban a player, they are far more likely to take their business elsewhere. That means less money for Trion to develop new content for us.

The subject matter of ****, incest, violence, hated, etc. in chat, I find disturbing and makes me rather uncomfortable. These subjects are not discussed in an adult fashion, but used in an aggressive and flippant way. The real world is filled such things and I get more than enough of it at work/college. I play to relax and have fun which is darn near impossible at times with what is being said in chat. I can only image what goes through the mind of a brand new player when they see the chat channels.

Yes, I can put people on ignore or leave the channel. However, my ignore list is rapidly filling-up and I occasionally do look for, to either give or receive, assistance for group quests and would prefer to be in the channel. Friends and guild are not always an option for people. I don’t feel like I should be penalized by leaving chat when I’m not the one causing the problem.

Some people lack maturity or decency or both and I would love to see some form of a moderator for the chat channels.
You said it yourself- you CAN put them on ignore. What else would you like to see Trion do about it? Ban people for potty mouths? You talk about wanting players to "grow up"- well, here's one for you- how about you just "turn the other cheek"?

Not all of us like to play on a high population server with lag and queues. Some of us are quite happy on a medium population server where we aren’t tripping over half-dozen other people, waiting in line for a mob or quest item to respawn, or going to the far ends to find enough mobs to kill for the quest. Less people crammed on one shard would mean less lag/queues and happier customers.
This I'll get on board with you about, in a sense. When Wolfsbane got bad, they made some adjustments, and closed the shard to transfer. Faeblight has an even higher population than Wolfsbane did when it was closed (Faeblight now the #1 most populated shard, according to riftstatus.net). The lag IS an issue, especially during peak times and events. I'd like to see some serious server resources invested into eliminating this problem- not just on our shard, but across all the shards. Personally, I LOVE being on a high population shard- I can even get over our moderately low queue times. But the lag issue needs to be addressed.

I’ve heard other people in the chat channels/forum boards complain about bots in other zones besides these. My friend (who also plays) and I report bots. I was telling him about 6 bots I reported last night. The names seemed familiar to him. He checked his email for the Trion response. Guess what? He reported them on 2/15. I saw and reported the exact same bots in the exact same zone on 2/19. His ticket was closed as “solved” on the same day as he reported them. I find it hard to believe that if it was ‘solved’ that I should happen to see the exact same bots.

If I had to hazard a guess and pull something out of The Big Book of Eth Conspiracy, I would say that they are either gold sellers farming (in the higher level zones) or leveling characters to sell (in the lower zones). Regardless, both reasons hurt the players and Trion. It hurts the player by potential messing up the economy and the sold characters have the potential of being ‘hacked’ later on and Trion using time/resources for account restores.
Trion bans bots in groups, monthly, as I recall. If you see them, report them- repeatedly. personally, I keep hoping they'll make a private shard, and just start transferring reported accounts.... that way, all the bots can play together, and Trion still makes money!

IMHO, if anyone honestly thinks the ignore button is an absolute cure to unreasonable behaviour in chat channels , they should read the studies on the damage done across the internet/world by the worst case trolls when left unchecked.

There are many levels of what is known as "trolling" ,

Some may be seen as harmless or humour and these trolls are usually welcome in games/chat. Sometimes they may cross lines and need to be told so. ( ignore could be the right option here )

At the other end of the Troll line is the more extreme mental illness that sees people trolling memorial sites, generating suicidal behaviour in those in mourning and laughing about it. These trolls are probably screaming out for help, in their own way. ( ignore could be the wrong option here )

Think about what you are doing, seek help if you need it and try not to destroy the game for others.

I disagree with this. You see, where Trion might lose a few players who are banned for Trolling, when those Trolls are not dealt with (as we see now), they drive off more players, especially on RP servers. Roleplayers on RP servers expect that they will be able to engage in their chosen activity without fear of deliberate interference from Trolls griefing them. It stands to reason they should expect that on a server specifically set aside for Roleplaying, especially so when that is the only RP server available.

So when roleplayers get griefed on their only RP server, and the company running said game (in this case, Trion) does nothing about said griefing, those roleplayers tend to take their gaming dollars elsewhere. So Trion stands to lose a lot more money from not banning Griefers, than they would from banning Griefers.

But I will say that I don't think the griefers should be banned from the game. I think that Trion should suspend said RP Griefers, and while they are in their 'time-out', move all of the Griefer's characters off of the RP server they are on (Faeblight or one of the EU RP servers, as the case may be) to another PvE server. Then the Griefer should be banned from ever making another character on an RP server, or from transferring a character to an RP server ever again. There's no reason RP Griefers should be kicked out of the game (unless they break the rules so badly that a full ban is warranted), but they should not be allowed back on an RP server after being busted for Griefing.

My opinion is mine alone, your mileage may vary, and no ducks were harmed in the creation of this post.

I picked an RP server, just like in warhammer and DDO before that, because the populatiojn seems more in line with my age and my thinking. There needs to be a compromise done...you sound like you are saying "if you do not RP, get out" I prefer it for the names ( I hate nonsensical or horrible ones, like killzalot etc..) and maturity of players. I do not RP much, nor am I a hardcare player..I fall somewhere in the gray area between...The only thing I can say is there are alot of a-holes out there, who will grief RP'ers. The only solution I can see is to ban griefers after a few reports, or to create a private, shard wide, RP channel...I am in no way saying to "put baby in a corner" but with anyone able to be on any shard, you are going to contend with a-holes. The only solutions I can think of are the ones I said...if we had an RP channel..you would not have to deal with all the LFG's, rude and insulting conversations etc.....might be a good idea...

Well, of course a banned player will stop paying, since they lose their account.

Thing is, a single real jerk can drive away a dozen or more other players.
You can play WoW in any MMO. You don't have to play WoW in RIFT. Oh, and no, RIFT is not a WoW clone. Not having fun any more? Learn to play, noob! I don't speak for Riftui, but I moderate stuff there. Got ideas for improving the RIFT community? Feel free to PM me. Just came back? Welcome back! Here's what's changed.

    Well, let's see...

As someone who's been accused of such 'trolling' behaviors as well as an 'non-RP- name, it's kind of sad that people can't do as was stated earlier and turn the other cheek.

I migrated here from Millrush to join a friend who had an established character. When I got here, they had bailed for Tera. So, I stuck around, not realizing that my name would be not RP worthy. I was merely following a pal, and by that point, I'd hit 30. I'm not the type to make other characters, ever.

So I asked for a GM to change my name, and I was told it's totally ok. Granted, Jayjustice isn't as bad as pwnzurface or something, but still, bad.

As for trolls and comments, for every person who wants to bring a bit of humor into an online game, there's someone who crosses the line and gets downright mean or spiteful. Not to mention that we have people berate others for bothering their RP server, as it 'wasn't like this back then.' Sadly, times change and servers change.

Faeblight needs some strain lessened. Make another RP server, free up some room, something. People, though, will always find something to complain about. I'd like to think that I don't have any enemies or people who harbor ill will toward me for my goofball antics.

But it is what it is. The issues brought up by the OP are somewhat legit, if not a bit on the personal side. Either way, we'll just have to wait it out. I like the server, personally. Even if I'm not as RP-heavy as fellow Faeblight residents, I enjoy it.

I see one of the promises trion made before launch has failed to have been kept even now.

*sigh* Well this answers more than a few questions. Probably will NOT be restarting my account in three days once the trial ends. But i'll give faeblight a chance.

Trion made Promises. Trion broke promises. Rpers who gave damn left in droves. Rpers who have hope stayed.

    Default Uh oh

As someone who just joined the game and came to Faeblight because I love to RP, this is a bit alarming.

As a new player, this worries me that my play experience is going to go downhill, and I really don't want that. I left WoW due to it's community and Blizzard's (appearance, at least) lack of policing it.

    My Stances

Name: RP names really are a must. No 'lolpwnzrs' or 'lavalamp'. Not saying that if I don't like whatever name you pick, I'll report it. If it looks RP, and when I speak it out load, it's not rude, I don't care. Be on your way.

RPing: Being on the Shard doesn't necessarily mean you have to RP. Some people come here for the community, but that saying, don't come here if you hate it. You have many other PvE/PvP Shards to choose from, leave our only home alone. I like the above idea of when someone is suspended for griefing, they can get auto-transferred to a PvE Shard. I didn't go on a PvP Shard because I don't like being forced to PvP, same goes with RP.

Can we also get some RP addons, please? A flag or something like TotalRP2, or MyRolePlay? :P.

Chat: I haven't been in 50's Chat, because I'm not high enough, but we really don't need another Barren's Chat, lol. For the most part I ignore it, because I tend to get distracted (so much more to do in this game!).

Lag: I have exited the game four times, and have had to give the error reports many times. It may be on my end, but I've had the ability lag as well. Another RP Shard would be a good idea, try to free up some space, or at least a lock.

For the most part, my experiences have been really good. With the exception of lag, but I'm still new, I'm sure I'll become cranky about it at some point.

Trion, it would be wise to fix things while they're minor before you lose too many players.
