Would you pay extra for an enforced RP server w/ events?

Yes, yes I know silly forums polls are non-scientific and completely non-generalizable, and hey this isn't even a poll for that reason but...

Now without going into a long-winded explanation of why-to and wither-for; Would you as an RPer pay either +$1 a month or maybe a one time fee for an enforced RP server, where the extra cash is used for regular GM events and at least minimal active enforcement of an RP rule set (Yes I understand when lore crazed RPolice go wild, we all suffer)? The extra sub price would also potentially do a lot to keep off non-RPers off of an RP server. I am still hoping a game somewhere would adopt this model and RIft seems to actually listen to its playerbase.

But I digress... fanciful Faeblight forums-goers, and pedantic peanut gallery people what think ye?

Yeah, I would def. pay an extra fee for something like that. Though I am still learning the ropes of RP (and loving it!)

I would be very cautious as to how this was implemented, but I would tentatively say that, yes, I would pay more for enforced RP rules. However, I don't really think that it's necessary. There have been games in the past that utilize an elected player base to serve as "mini-GMs" that have certain abilities to facilitate RP events (including dealing with griefers) and I think those seemed to work very well. The players that are given these powers (and, of course, responsibilities) have been elected by the player-base and can be stripped of their rank if they are deemed by those players to be unfit. I think this kind of setup could work well in an environment such as ours on Rift's Faeblight. Don't you think?

I think the wedding idea was a feeler to see how the roleplay community likes it. I bet if we ask loud enough Trion would give us instanced bars, halls, etc that we could have invite only roleplay events in. That might be an option that makes both parties happy.

Ya I agree with Fog, instances for RP events would seem a bit easier than paying extra for basically a personal server. Doubt there would be enough players that would be willing to pay more for it but there are for sure enough that a couple instances set up for rp purposes would be used.

Good call Fog! Love that Idea! That would be awesome to have a Meeting Hall etc for invite type RP events or even just for Guilds to hold an online meeting etc. Hope Trion takes note of this thread. If this were in place, there probably would not be a need for an extra fee. I'm not adverse to the extra fee, but I think there may be alternatives I'd like to see tried first.

I'm not sure if I'd pay extra because I am not confident that they could deliver. If a game ever went the extra-mile to enforce RP rules on their RP servers, I'd be so impressed. To date, they haven't. They should take the PVP servers and allow players to run around with PVP off permanently. Either enforce the rule-set or don't.

I agree that I'd have to see how exactly it was implemented...but I would love playing on an RP server where RP rules where enforced. I haven't experienced much griefing myself (thankfully!) from non-RP'ers, but I know it continues to be a problem. I have yet to experience a server where the ENTIRE community focused on RP...and I would at least give it a test run if one were implemented.

An enforced RP server would most likely have much stricter policing of public chat channels.

They could just do a re-working of the marriage instances. Have a jug of ale in your inventory that sends you and others to a bar instance or mead hall sort of thing.
