What is your craziest raid experience?

I have several but I will start off with one from another game. Haven't had anything beat this one yet in Rift. About 3 or 4 years ago I was running Naxx in WoW. We were on Grobulus, the one you tank backwards in a circle. I was afk for a few and came back to the raid all dead. It turns out my 5 year old decided it would be funny to pull Grobulus and thought my shadow priest could tank it. Not only did he do this once but twice in a row. I was kicked from the group.

I've also done the clever thing of healing myself instead of the tank and wiping the raid that way on Greenscale. I plead the 5th.

Original Johlen progression with my first raid and recently learning to deal with waves+mind decay+breath in phase 4-5 akylios. The latter was actually fun once we got a good system. The former...almost made me quit Rift.

Doing Oracle in GSB. Talked about what happens, explain that we'll call names out for people to run out, etc. The fight is going great on the second attempt, down to 10% when we call out someone's name. His response:

Yeah, thankfully I was in a cheap bait boat for that one. If I had lost a good ship in that fight I'd have probably booked a flight to Virginia and toilet papered that guy's house.

Not a Rift raid, but...

Back when I was playing WoW, I was in a casual guild that decided to start raiding. I had been pugging raids and running with other friends, so I jumped in to help since I mostly knew what I was doing. We got to Heigan the Unclean in Naxxramas, we explained to everyone how to do the dance (if you've played, you know what I mean... they don't call the achievement "The Safety Dance" for nothin...) and everyone seemed to get the concept, so we pull. Everybody runs to the correct area, raid lead is calling out when to move, but even so, these aren't seasoned raiders and everyone starts to die... except for the two people who have actually done it before, myself (the raid heals) and our main tank. Took us about 12 minutes, but we two-manned that bastard.

Later on, we pulled off a similar trick when trying to get the Undying achievement, where you have to complete all 15 bosses in Naxx within one raid lockout without a single death. We took a poll of the group to see who actually thought they were capable of doing the dance without dying, ended up being one tank, one heals (myself, again), and one dps. Went a little faster with the dps present! And, yes, we got the Undying on our first try. Go us.

This was a guild that had a history of fun, random things, like nekkid raid night and raid night drinking games, so I have a plethora of stories I could tell about them... Ahh, good times. I haven't had the time to devote to raiding in Rift, yet, but I do sorely miss it. Hopefully, I will find a fun group that raids when I am available and have more great stories to tell soon!

Cyrenne we've had similar experiences in Naxx. Tank and healer up on the dance many times. If you have a tiny bit of lag you're toast on that fight!

Yes, but I will always remember the tension in vent... At first, everyone was just going to refill their booze of choice, but when they came back and we were still up, everyone got really excited and there was cautious enthusiasm and drunken taunting.... lol I guess it's just funnier with my old guild vent playing in my head!

Edit: We were the kind of guild that when new content came out, we loaded up on whiskey and beer and set out for a night of getting our butts kicked. But, we learned content that way and we had a great time doing it. I guess I should have added in the original post that our raid nights had a 3 drink minimum. We probably wiped more often than most guilds, but we ended up having a lot more fun. :P

This is another WoW memory, but it's a good one. This was during the first tier of raiding in Cataclysm. They had recently introduced the mass rez button as an out of combat guild perk.

Here's where the fun starts. We were doing progression on Nef/Zombie Onyxia (the lvl 85 version of him obviously). We wiped sometime in p2 when the lava platforms come out of the ground, and I was the last person to die. Now, as a holy priest, we get that nifty angel form that allows you to continue casting after death. Weeeeeelll, I wanted to see if I could get a mass rez off before my Spirit of Redemption form wore off. Sounded like a good idea at the time, right? Well, it worked.

Now, you can imagine what happens next. The raid sees an "Accept Ressurect from Chanalia?" message and takes it without thinking. Meanwhile, I'm yelling in vent "Oh God, don't take that!!!" The raid rezzed into a very respawned and angry Nef and Onyxia.

The laughter didn't stop for a good 10 minutes. Needless to say, it took a little while before anyone trusted a rez window from me :P

A fun one from awhile ago.

Just as I logged into the game and vent I heard police sirens heading my way, the cop stops right across the street from me and more are incoming. Never one to miss an opportunity I opened the window, set vent to open mic, typed into guild chat "brb resisting arrest" and logged out of the game. Vent went from "omg is he serious?" and "haha funny" to "do you think he got away?" I left vent on thru the hour or so the cops were arriving and breaking into the house across the way then shut it off.

I didn't log back into the game for 2 days.

When I did finally log back in I pretended like nothing had happened. They kept bringing up police stories from around the country wanting to know if it was me.

I should add that this happened while we were forming the raid for that evening, and I was both the main tank and raid leader. I completely understand and agree with you if you want to call it **** move it was but we had the content on farm already and it only made the situation even more believable. I never confirmed nor denied their theories, but raid sign ups from that point on usually included a back up plan in case I was arrested prior to or during the run.

Recent crazyness ensued last night: we were wiping on Akylios, still managed to get Jorn down, and then it was a mad dash to finish off the squid before he did the same to us. Warrior DPS tanking with bend like a reed and those numbers kept ticking down... down... and we got him to 2,286 when the last of us fell. Seriously should be an achievement for wiping on Aky below 5k health :P
