Since I started posting here you're the second person who has told me they recognize The Hangman...which isn't many considering. IMO it's one of the most powerful poems ever written and the animated film for it is perfect, even tho it dates back to 1964.

Well, heres mine:
Back in Burning Crusade of WoW I had only recently gotten my first ever max level character (in any MMO) as a warrior, and honestly...my DPS was BAD. Horrible. My guild basically carried me and got me epics in Karazhan, but that didn't stop me from proving how much I needed to improve my rotation.
Anyway, we were doing Gruul progression one night trying to finally get him down, and like every other attempt we slowly started to wipe from Shatter or a tank dying from Hateful Strike
Turns out I was apparently the last on the threat table so while everyone else was dying I kept pounding on him, doing terrible DPS, and ended up landing the final blow on him with Execute to kill him the very moment he killed the 25th member of the raid (me), so we both died at the same time.
I ended up getting tier as a reward
Not a Rift raid since i just came back to Rift and i'm only 40.
My guild had been stuck on Yogg-Saron for a while in WoW (During that tier, not going back in better gear)
So one night, one of our healers comes on and he's playing from a hotel connection. He joins us and we attempt Yogg, and we start dying left and right. He was WAY too drunk to heal, so we called it a night.
Well the next day, he gets on vent and i was the only one on and he says "man, i was messed up last night" And i'm like yeah man, i know. Then he says "I logged on and pugged with some group to do Yogg. Those poor guys kept dying cause i was just laughing and forgetting what my key binds were"
To which i say "I know man, that was us." And there was just a pause and we started laughing.

That was pretty epic. I'm not great at stories though, or memory, so I don't know exactly how that transpired.
Pretty recently on Akylios everyone died except for Kallim who managed to get him down to 2438 hitpoints before his parry everything buff dropped and he died

Made a PUG for trying to take down the first boss of GSB in March of last year, when we barely had enough 50's online on our faction to form the raid group. Spent 2 hours getting it together, made about 6-7 attempts on him, never got him past his first whirlwind phase, half the raid would just stand in front of him every time. And everyone was on mumble. Was so much fail.
Another good one was the guy who thought he was an amazing rogue, he was doing subpar damage the entire raid and kept doing stupid ****. And then on oracle, we called him out on Mumble multiple times, and spammed chat, yelled at him, etc... He stood with all of us and wiped us. And then was like "Oh, I didn't understand what you meant."
I just remembered another WoW related raid. lol. I promise i'll add Rift raids once i get to cap. lol.
So this is another Yogg-Saron story. If you know nothing of the fight, youtube it. It's complete chaos and i miss every second of it. So, in phase 2, 4 portals open around Yogg. We had to have an independent team of DPSers go into the portals and DPS Yogg's brain after fighting through a vision of the past. Well, in phase 2, tentacles come up on the outside like crazy and the rest of the raid has to cull them down. There are 3 different types of tentacles and one is the grabbers which grab a person and swing them in the air.
Well, one of the portal team got grabbed. The portal team is important for 2 reasons. One, DPSing the brain down is the ONLY way to get to the last phase. Two, if not enough DPS is going on in the brain, WAY more tentacles come out and ruin the raid.
So like i said, one of the DPSers gets grabbed. I'm the MT, and in that phase, i'm useless, so I say i'll go into the brain. I run in and we dps the memory down and get some dps on the brain. Well, I lagged and got trapped in the brain. If you don't get out, you go insane and become a raid boss and the raid has to kill you, and you have to stay dead until you kill the boss or you wipe.
Well.. I was an AWESOME tank, and all my stats were amplified to raid boss levels. So with all my block and mitigation, i TORE through my entire raid. Nobody could kill me. And in vent, i almost passed out from laughter. I killed the entire raid. I wish i recorded it because it was the best thing ever.
That night, we learned that no matter what, the tank (Read: me) NEVER goes into the brain again.

At least you got to phase 2... We had a raider who earned the nickname "cloud-toucher" in phase 1... It was so bad, the nickname lasted until Lich King. Oh, the wipes....

We found it easier to just stack on Sara, focus DPS the mobs one at a time, and just heal through the bomb. If you take it slow, that how it should be done.
I remember i thought we were gonna down Yogg on Friday the 13th. I was so happy to have that date on my achieve. Well, the raiders din't feel like showing up until Saturday. So on my tank, it's Saturday the 14th.
But i was so happy. Weeks of planning finally paid off. For literally 6 weeks, i carried 99 barrels of bourbon and fireworks in my bags. I handed them out to all the raiders and we got dead drunk and lit fireworks off in doors. It was amazing. I still have the blurry naked screen shots. lol.

Lol. Bend Like The Reed=dps tank for about 10 seconds.
I think my favorite was a time when I was doing Guurloth with a pug. Everyone wiped except for me, and Guurloth and I killed each other at the same time (I was DPSing).

In RoS where my air elemental pulled the Herald, not one...not twice...but three times in a row IMMEDIATELY after being summoned, from across the room, WITHOUT me having him targeted at all. The little bastard would just run over, zap him, then come running back to me. I would get smacked, Herald would ignore EVERYONE else, including the people in front of me, then reset. Dunno WHAT the little air-head was thinking!
