Hello Shadefallen
Hello everyone!
Hmm, what to do? Faeblight or Shadefallen? Oh well, that's up to me!
Long time MMO'er that played since the days of Utima online. I played EverQuest for five years, World of Warcraft for four. In the middle there, I dabbled in SWG, DAoC, Vanguard and other games of that nature. After that, I figured MMORPGs were dead, so I played on private "classic" EverQuest and World of Warcraft servers.
I just found this game Tuesday because I pretty much gave up on MMOs being any good. It seems that lately it is just a "give me teh 1337 l00t" and a bunch of ******s running around wanting to prove how they can put other people down. I found this game and it looks promising.
It seems like there are a lot of nice "old school" players on this server and, to me, MMORPGS are about the community and the relationships that you make with other people, it's not about getting the best gear!
I didn't continue to log into EQ two years after it started to suck because of the game....I logged in because of my guildmates!
Anyway, I am a married man with two kids that has a normal 9-5'ver during the week. I live in EST and hope that I can relive some of the glory days that I remember from oh too long ago. I am a bit confused by this game, as there seems to be so many combos. I always loved Main Tanking and Main Healing, so it will be a warrior or cleric start, but I am just confused on what other "souls" to choose. Actually, I am confused at the whole "souls" thing, but maybe I will figure it out in game. And I am confused about my faction choice as well.
I have read the instructions but I am a bit confused How do I open more trees so I can have more than one class?
1pm cannot come fast enough. Until then, cheers my friends!

Hey - I am the same as you and definitely going to Shadefallen. I played the Beta there and met some amazing people, so feel free to holler to Jaxor!

I'll try to give a basic explanation of how souls work. While you're in the starter zone you'll get quests that let you chose all three of your starting souls. When you level you can put points into any of them, but you normally only get one point per level. (Every third level or so you get two) After you hit level 13 you can do quests to open up any of the other souls from you calling (warrior, rogue, cleric, mage), but you can only use three of them at the same time.
You're never stuck with your choices though, because trainers will let you reset your points for a small amount of money as many times as you want. They'll also sell you "roles", which are completely separate builds that you can use to make yourself more flexible. You can change roles when ever you're not in combat. So you could have a "healer" role with points spent to make yourself a great healer and a "solo" role with different souls that let you survive on your own and switch when ever you want. You can have up to four roles on each character, so you get lots of flexibility.
Hope that helps a little, but ask questions and I'm sure all of us will be glad to help!

Rift Disciple
Had same issue... Gunna stick to SF though. Going on Fae just means the player congestion starting out will be all the worse... (Completely based of forum traffic though; could end up being we get hit hard.) I think MANY people preordered Rift lol; the turtles running around was sign enough). So I think early starts gunna be crazy across the board.
Congestion just means:
Less chance of getting server firsts etc. Most head start players know how to get ahead in game already so you wont be able to just hope to get ahead the curb lol.

Shield of Telara
I'm heading to Shadefallen. I was beta on there and met some nice people. There were a few trolls but i'm hoping they moved on to PVE or PVP servers.
