Hello Shadefallen - Videographer on the shard!

Greetings, Guardians!

Some of you have seen me in Silverwood and Sanctum as either Samuraiko or Raelskye (the latter of which is becoming known as 'the patron saint of stupid generosity'). After chatting with some of you, it was suggested that I post on here because I will routinely be popping in to the game not only to play, but also to film. I make machinima for fun and profit (as a secondary job, in fact), and plan to add RIFT vids to my repertoire.

This includes music vids, trailers for the game, parodies, whatever inspires me.

Hence this post - if you and/or your guild are amenable to being filmed, please let me know. Sometimes I need a mass crowd for a scene (either in combat or around the countryside), othertimes it's just one character silhouetted against the scenery looking impressive. And what with all the different armors and weapons and dyes and mounts and stuff, there's a nice amount of variety for me to capture on film. Dialogue's not needed, but a savvy user of emotes is ALWAYS welcome!

The end results are then posted on my YouTube channel and on my website.

Anyway, enough blathering. Just a thanks in advance to them's that want to help, and I look forward to seeing you around the shard!

I'm really looking forward to seeing your rift vids, and I have a passing interest in making machinima myself when I grow up (or when my kids grow up that is, lol)

I picked up a lot of information from Oxhorn of WoW fame, but his more advanced WoW machinima methods dont work unless you have a tool on hand like WoW model viewer.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'll have to brainstorm some new script ideas for myself!

Actually, my all-time favorite machinima tool is one from CITY OF HEROES... the /demorecord feature. If I had THAT, oh, the RIFT videos I could make. I keep hoping that someday I'll get lucky and they'll add it to RIFT. I can but hope. (Having never played WoW (or really watched any of its vids), I've no idea what they can or can't do there.)

My primary filming Guardian continues to be Raelskye, but her Defiant counterpart is my Rogue, Chrisanti! So if you spot something or some place amazingly cinematic, drop me a message and let me know.

BTW, a shout-out of awesomeness to the folks who helped me film today in and around Meridian - you guys were a huge help!

The video is taking shape, and now that I seem to have resolved my graphics card issue, filming is moving at a much faster pace. Now I get to chase down Death rifts, hoping to find the various Harbingers spawning!

I'd be interested in doing some sort of collaboration or helping you out on some Rift videos in the future if you'd like. I do this stuff professionally in real life (working on a show for the BBC at the moment) and I've always wanted to get into machinima.

Not to be a party pooper but I do not wish film of any of my characters to be used in any way that will be used for profit. I know I am no one special but the only company/entity that should be profiting from my play is Trion and its subsidiaries.

Fear not - when I say I do this for fun and profit, I mean that I am occasionally contracted by the game producers themselves to do an ad for the game (for example, the ads I did for EARTH ETERNAL and for AUDITORIUM). In that situation, I get paid to make an official ad, which in turn generates revenue for the producers.

This, on the other hand, was just for fun - and vids that I do on my own time (and my own dollar) make no profit for anyone but the game producers since obviously I'm showing off their game for free.

(The bulk of the work I get paid for is me doing video work for pageants, commercials, book tours, etc. It's not exactly a steady gig, but it helps.)
