Default gold sellers/powerlevel services on our server - say no!

    Hiya!

Got my first whispered spam for powerleveling/gold buying today, sigh.

Just asking all to please please please not use gold sellers and dont use powerleveling services on this server. If we all dont do it, then with no market - and no profits - they will go. Vote with your ignore and leave them no-one to spam.

    Thankyou!

You can click on the name and report them as spam. Won't stop them, but it's something...

I got a few today too... Reported spam and then ignored.. Hopefully they get tired of being ignored.

I agree with OP, squash it before it becomes a problem.

    Default Agreed

goldselling will ruin our server economy, i've seen the toll it takes after 5years of wow. money becomes worthless and 5000 platinum would be the norm for auction house fare. just say no!

Agreed, report them by clicking on the name, then click again and ignore. BTW has anyone noticed the price of them atm ? I mean, I know its a brand new game an all but come on, at those prices it clearly not in your credit cards interest to buy anything off them.

Yes, those prices are insane. The game is brand new though so I can see the prices being high I guess.

There are people dumb enough to buy that crap, otherwise the websites/spammers would not exist.

I think in some ways it's the person that just doesn't have time to play and really wants to.
    It's not winning that counts.
It's making sure everyone else loses

I disagree with the people who don't have time to play who buy money. You should be making an ok (albeit small) sum from quests/selling in what little time that person might play and any *needs* would be taken care of. Other than twinking out perhaps but even those who play lots won't all be doing that. So far it seems the best gear for those lower lvls (any lvls?) is going to be through rifts and that really doesn't take a lot of time either. 20 min. of a major invasion and I have a purple stone to get gear with. If you don't have 20 min. at one time to play then they shouldn't be playing.

I just don't see an excuse to resort to goldsellers.

Dimrooters! Just Say No to Gold Sellers! Here's a great post on the Gamespot forums:

Before you buy game gold for real money from an external seller consider these facts:

    1. Many gold sellers are out to steal your money, period. In many cases you will never see your gold. If this is all that happens to you then consider yourself lucky.

    2. Most games have policies not only against selling gold for money, but buying it as well. Blizzard has been known to ban people buying gold in WoW.

    3. Many gold sellers are hackers, just visiting their sites open you up to threats such as keyloggers. Or if you simply hand them your credit card they don't have a use for a key logger, think about that.

    4. The gold you are buying most likely came from a stolen account or was obtained using a stolen account. All of those hacked accounts you always hear about in games? Do you think they are playing those characters? No. They are hacking them to steal the gold so they can sell it to you! Typically if someone is lucky enough to retrieve their account it has been stripped of everything because they sell all of your stuff then take all of your gold. This is what you are supporting with your money.

    5. Gold selling hurts any in game economy, when gold becomes as easy as clicking a button on the web it throws everything out of wack. It hurts the game, period.

    (Smilies are my contribution).

    Thanks all!

Starting to get really annoying. I can't even get through play sessions without being spammed by gold sellers already. Today has been worse than ever and it seems that it is only getting worse. I try to report them and ignore them but more just keep popping up. I'm hoping Trion is able to get a handle on this situation quickly and I know they are doing the best that they can at the current time.

I report each and everyone. Just click on their name in the chat log and click "Report Spam."

Then click on it again and "Ignore."

    To hell with RMT!

Default A Story of What Can Happen If You Purchase Gold

Let me tell you a story of a person who bought gold. His name is changed to protect the small bit of modesty he has left.

One day Bill, age 24, grew tired of never having money in his MMO of choice. It wasn't that Bill couldn't go out and do quests or farm for materials, no Bill was lazy. So he decided to try a gold service, StevenExpress. He was amazed how fast he received his money and immediately went to the auction house to purchase all sorts of uber lewts, through which he did not work for.

Upon purchasing these items, he went out and was much more powerful then he had ever been! Many an animal fell beneath his ill gotten sword. And for once in his life Bill was happy with his MMO.

Then after he turned off his computer, he decided to walk to the store for some Cheetos. Along the way he passed by a dark alley. A giant of a man jumped out and hit him over the head, and drug him into the alley afterwords. Horrible things that should not be mentioned (mostly due to posting policies) befell him in this dark alley.

He crawled out of the alley about 30 minutes later, ashamed and now really needing a drink and the before mentioned Cheetos. As he arrived at the store, he noticed that the cashier was acting funny. Before he could act and guy came around the corner brandishing a weapon and demanded Bill's Cheeto and drink money. Still reeling from his earlier encounter, he handed over the money with no fight.

Further dejected, now without money, Cheetos, a drink, and his dignity, Bill headed home. As he approached he noticed hordes of firefighters outside his house, dousing a fire that had consumed only his computer room.

At this Bill turned his head skyward and shouted, "How could this day possibly get any worse!?" It was at that moment that his girlfriend walked up with a midget walking besides her. She told him he had found someone else, and with that they walked away, but not before being kicked in the shins by both parties.

The next day when he finally got back online over at a friends house, he saw his account was both hacked and banned.

The morale of this story is: Buy gold and get ******* molested! You will be robbed! Your house will burn to the ground! Your girlfriend will leave you for a midget! And your account will be banned!! Don't let this happen to you!

    Don't buy gold!!
