Default New to Dimroot? - FAQ and Q:+A:

I know there is a MASSIVE new player thread out there in the general forums. As our server thread is much smaller, and easier to manage and surf thru, I though we could create a list on our own server thread.

So, what are some things you wish YOU had known during headstart that would have made your game play experience better.

    ================================================== ==============

    * When you first start a character, you are in a phased area. If you wish to play with a friend, group with that person and you'll get the option to join phase. Otherwise, you may not see them. (happend with my BF and I)

    * Unless a person has themselves set to private, you can select join group from the character window. Grouping up does not prevent the gain of experience points, nor does it prevent the other person any quest mob kills or quest item drops. It's a great system... 10 people farming in your area.. group up and you'll be done in no time, with no drawbacks (infact, looking at it, I *Think* you get bonus EXP... they could have changed that through)

    * For Defiants: Don't leave "The future" without witnessing the battle during the last rift. I rushed it the first time, but the second stayed around... It's a major story point.... and kinda cool too.

    * Don't worry about rushing to crafting nodes... they respawn really fast. I was looking for quest mobs, and one flower respawned 5 times before I had finished my quest.

(please continue [if you have something to add])

    * Guardians: In the tutorial zone there are AT LEAST 14 books to collect detailing certain classes, lore, and other things that YOU CAN MISS if you don't find them all. I only found 14. Also, there are a few cool things you can witness/find if you look around and explore.

*If you can manage more than one craft with your gathering profession, do so. Artisan marks aren't bound to a profession so you can turn in dailies from say artificer and apothecary and use all the marks for a super sweet potion recipe.

*You can free change out your souls in your current role if you just reset all of your points. You don't HAVE to buy a new role unless you want to.

As a healer, the Cast on Target's Target and the other similar named option. Makes it soooo easy for healing the focus of mobs and bosses during Rifts and throwing some damage their way too.

    Default For Guardians

    For Guardians:
I saw this a lot today with the new players coming in:
But, you can get THREE souls in the first area.
Make sure to do ALL the quests there.

First soul is that first quest (shouldn't miss) where you appear in-game for the first time

Second soul is the following the beginning quest line where you move to the second questing hub (again unmissible)

Third soul is the one missed somehow quite often (I don't know how, but a lot of people did miss it) has to deal with the Orphiel quest. Where you "kill" him and he runs away, you then talk to the angel(valkyrie?) who then gives you the third soul (IIRC) and a free tele back to the camp. - then you can go on your way to defeating your first rift :P

Think thats the first major thing I've seen that I can add..

Also for the first 2 Dungeons/Instances these are the usual level requirements:
    Realm of the Fae(RotF): 16~19
Darkening Deeps (DD): 22~26 (general range, sometimes see a 21 get in, or even 27s/28s looking to group)
    Guardian - Dimroot - Characters
    [Vae Victis]
    Nerfbat - Sab Rogue (Main)
    Eiko - Warrior (un-leveled Alt)
    Zidane - Mage (un-leveled Alt)
    Necron - Cleric (Main Alt)

I believe there is only one book on the Defiant side in the starter area. The Defiant's equivalent of the big book grab is in the tower in Meridian.

Nice thread you started Milyssa. Its refreshing to see someone try to be helpful on the forums when the alternative is so much more common.

I was going to answer you about the book but Pablo beat me to it. There is only one book on the Defiant side. The remainder of books are in Meridians tower.

However, there are a number of rare mobs and clickable loot options. I've run the tutorial zone a lot thru beta and post launch (at least 20) and here's the ones I know of and seen for myself. I've only seen each 1-2 times so they are rather rare afaik.

After you get your first soul and round the corner into the big room, there is a treasure chest in the corner where you first enter the room. I saw this a lot in the first 1-2 betas but very rarely since. I thought they took it out but saw it again recently after a long time. Got gear with stats.
The next room has the book which is always there.
When you enter the area where the mobs are, a gigantic ogre/cyclops occasionally shows up. Only seen and fought him once with the help of another person. Green loot iirc.
There is a mage that pops on the 2nd floor in one of the buildings. He used to drop gear with stats but now drops junk, probably because he is not rare and almost always repops seconds after dying. In the back of his building is a weapon rack at times.

In the next area, make sure you crouch and gather the sourcestones next to the Bahmi questgiver. They give you a short-term buff.
This area has 2 rare mobs, one is a large 4-legged robot of some sort. I only saw it once and rushed to kill it so not sure of what it was but you can't miss it if it happens to spawn. Towards the back of this area, I also saw another rare type mob but it was early in beta and I've never seen it again. There's also a 3rd giant type thing but this thing collapses as soon as it spawns. Seen it a number of times but never able to hit it.

The next area by Asha, there is an occasional weapon rack in the building behind her.
In the area next to the healer, there is an npc crouched down. He doesn't offer a quest but has dialogue where if you talk to him and you do what he says, a bombardment of cannon fire will rain down on the mobs below him. Kinda neat.

The next quest area has a rare mob that I only saw once in the cave where you unleash the other mob who goes and kills everything in its path. The rare mob was up as soon I entered the cave so I killed him. I wonder what would happen though if I had triggered the quest mob and they both had to face each other.
The 3 mage npc's standing around the portal, I kill them everytime I'm in the area but they haven't done anything special yet.

The next area by Frederic, there are 2 rare mobs...one roams by the prisoners in the cage. The other is standing on a ledge down a ways. They both drop gear with stats. Also a clickable loot container in one of the tents by the prisoners. Very rare though. Never seen anything special by the far area with the other tents.
There is a clickable gear item by the prisoners where they get released if you click it. Nothing special happens that I know of but you do get the special feeling of having freed them if only for a short while. I imagine they get eaten by the minions of Regulos a short while later.

Other than those, I've never found anything special thru the whole rest of the tutorial area. But if anyone else has, do tell .

If you are looking for quests from the old days of yore (I.E. quests that don't tell you where to go, no help on the mini map, etc) be sure to find the Cult, Saga quests that start at level 20 in your respective main city. At least on Dimroot me and my partner were the first to finish the level 20 cult, saga quest guardian side (which included fighting Yggdrasil...I'm not kidding). It's pretty awesome. Be sure to check the Tribunal (guardian) and Asha (defiant) often!
