What is your Background (Past Games)

Man you guys have a long list. I guess I would be the MMO Cherry still. Played WoW as my first MMO. Started as a rogue and then eventually branched off to other classes. I stopped playing for about 3 months. Came back right when Cata came out and burned myself out really fast on my pally. Barugale - Kargath-Alliance for those that like to look up characters. I'm switching to rift because WoW has turned into nothing but a bunch of elitist punks who always take gear over skill....Not to mention the first class I ever played was intentionally broke because of their OP'ness. I <3 rogues =D

City of Heroes
and after 4 years I'll finally make the switch to something else.
Loved that game to death but it was time to change.

Wow.. lets see.. lol been a computer freak since we got our first computer. Think it was a Timex Sinclair thing. Had several computers, and an Atari 2600 (Loved that thing).

Online games started on BBS's :P Um.. the few there were. Tradewars etcetc.
Moved on to AOL and the internets (woot) -- played LoK, Battletech, Warcraft etcetc.
Moved on to UO, played that until after EQ released but was being stubborn and avoiding EQ.

Finally switched to EQ -- played that for like 5-6 years.
SWG dragged me away from EQ. I LOVED SWG until they ruined it with jedi. Played off and on but NGE made me quit.
Played Earth and Beyond, even had a Runescape stint lol. Tried EQ2 (yuck), played City of Heroes for a while, tried Daoc, didn't care for it (sorry! heh). Few others here and there and finally bit the bullet and tried WoW. Played WoW for about 4 years. Quit a few months after Wrath, my account got hacked and that was enough for me.

Been in game limbo since then, mostly a facebook junkie 0.o. Heard about the Rift open beta the night before it ended, tried it and fell in serious like with it. We pre-ordered by the end of the final day. We'll give it a go and see how it is

As for my MMO history:

World of Warcraft - Since 2004 until about a month ago.

I just mainly was with WoW the whole time.. raiding a lot.

Ah, Pong... I remember it well.

I started off my PC gaming with Diablo, Half Life and Unreal, but I fell in love with Baldur's Gate. I went on to become more of a collector than a player I think. Buying and selling on eBay when eBay was good. I collected more games and systems than I could play in a lifetime. I did enjoy RPGs- not particularly good at twitchers, though it was fun trying. Of the games I did play in my eBay days, Castlevania Symphony of the Night burns bright in my memory.

LOTRO was my first and only MMO. Picked it up at release and have been playing it ever since. I tried WoW free trial for a couple of hours, but I felt like I was in a cartoon.

I have become disenchanted with LOTRO over the last months and heard about Rift there in the nick of time. I made it to Open Beta and was smitten. I don't have nearly the MMO experience many others do, but my heart's in it.

I tried Meridian 59 (the first internet-based 3d MUD, before the term MMORPG was ever created), my friend tried to get me into it, but back then the idea of paying a sub fee for playing a game was new (and you actually had to pay by the hour!) and didn't sit well with me.

Then I went onto UO (because I LOVED the Ultima series)
Then EverQuest because it was more like traditional D&D (pen and paper D&D) and had the traditional fantasy races and classes. I stuck with EQ1 for years (made it to like level 56 Cleric) and quit soon after Lost Dungeons expansion came out (great expanion for that time IMO).
Tried Asheron's Call, wasn't impressed.
Then I went to DAoC for maybe a year, not quite.
Went back to EQ1 for a bit.
Then dabbled in (in no particular order) CoH, GW, SWG, EQ2, tested VG (didn't run very well on my PC at the time), WoW, Champions Online, RoM, LotR (for like an hour, lol, not sure if that counts).

Original EverQuest wsa "the game" for me. The only one I had true fond memories of (well, I had fond memories on UO too)... But EQ was the only one that really held my attention and I can say I was "addicted" to

I pretty much gave up on MMOs and went back to just console games until my friend (and old guild members) told me about Rift. Never heard of Rift, just through word of mouth, I thought it was gonna be "the next best thing" and not really take off and that I would get bored quick. But I was happy to get into the beta (started in Beta 3) and I really like it. I don't want to jump to conclusions too soon, but I really hope and intend to stick with Rift for a long time, it just has to keep holding my attention.

More than anything, the MOST thing I am excited about in regards to Rift, is actually playing with my old guild again!

Wow, you all have a much longer list than me. I spent my years playing stuff like The Sims and Rock Band while hubby played WOW (I just didn't like that game). The only MMO I've ever played was STO, and I waited years for that and I was so excited because I'm a total Trekkie....then it turned out to be crap. I gave up on MMO's and went back to the Sims and Rock Band.

Then a friend of ours offered us beta keys for Rift and we'd never heard of it. We checked it out online and it looked awesome!! We played Beta 5-7, and then decided to give each other the collector's edition for Valentine's Day (how romantic!).

So basically I'm a true noob when it comes to MMO's. I'm still trying to figure out all the terms everyone banter's around, and the differences between the classes. I have been very lucky that when I have asked questions, I haven't gotten flamed/trolled and for that I am thankful.

I was addicted to MUDs back in the day, and played so many of them I can't recall their names >.< Played EQ for a bit, then Wow for...forever. Dabbled a bit in Warhammer. Now Rift!
