I love new people; I bring new people to Faeblight all the time that join Sacred Fire from the travel forum. But seems like every raiding guild and their cousin has moved here. Did Trion close more servers and I didn't get the memo?

They probably need the big population to grind for inscribes.
No, as smaller servers reach certain population thresholds suddenl;y one of the big guilds leaves in an effort to chase some population, and then suddenly there will be a wave of others who also leave after that assuming the hit in population will eventually make the server unplayable because activities simply don't happen.
So you end up with stuff like Millrush where things were fairly stable a few weeks, then a big guild left, then another, and now it's dead.

Can you tell when the big guilds played? ;)
Its because alot of these guilds are hurting for members, so they come to Faeblight hoping to recruit people or manage to get some poaching done. Faeblight was one of the higher populated servers next to Wolfsbane, so I imagine that's why many have came over the past week. Sadly, you should see some of the names that came to Faeblight. All I can say is GG Faeblight RP server, welcome Faeblight PVE server. Just no official tag on the server change.
Well, I am torn. I am glad that it wasn't due to servers closing. I love RIFT and I hope the expansion brings people back to the game, but all the big guilds coming to Faeblight...that just means that those other servers that instantly became small may end up on the chopping block.
As far as the names and RP stuff, report it. It does work. Many names have been changed but it takes a handful or more people reporting the same name. Faeblight was big befor the rush of raider transfers, we do have a voice.

If there are only a handful of people left, why does it matter?
For people who want the small community feel they move to Threesprings or Gnarlwood.
For people that like a mid range populations (or need oceanic) they move to Greybriar, or Laethys.
For people who want lots of population they move to Faeblight (RP), Deepwood, or Wolfsbane.
. . . and of course you can't forget about PVP, they go to Seastone.
Your server is not your home, where you find people to play with that you enjoy playing with is.
Those of us who roleplay only have the one option, and suddenly that option is filled with dudebros with dumb names. I've had to leave 50 chat. It's WoW trade chat in there now. x_x
I'm not against new folks coming and going, it's good for the economy and events, but it's a bit nuts at the moment. I hope our new friends settle down a little and see the great stuff the Faeblight community is capable of. There's a ton of awesome people here and I don't want to see that change.
I don't see that much griefing of rp'ers on Faeblight even now, actually less than I saw on Sunrest before it went belly-up.

You are right to a point. My home will be with the people I enjoy RP-ing with. This isn a RP server. I have one choice.
So things do matter to some of us. I want RIFT to keep going for a long time and I want a healthy RP server to exist. Maybe I am asking for too much, but I am asking nonetheless.

I agree with my fellow RP-ers. We have one place to go. Faeblight is it. I've heard many people say "If you are tired of the way people act, why don't you transfer" - Because we're it. This is THE RP server. RP'ers know they will find other RP'ers here. The problem is we are such a small voice now among all the rest. RP'ers made the server a friendly and welcoming place. We did such a good job that many other non RP'ers came.
I think it really comes down to the lack of firm and policed rules for the RP server. To an extent that is ok.
But with more Non-RP players comes a relaxation of the naming rules because less of a percentage of the population on the shard actually cares.
I don't have firm numbers on the population count.. but its true even without the numbers. If you have a glass with ice and water 50%/50% - if you add more water to the glass, the ice makes a smaller percentage - say 20%/80%.... And it's a vicious cycle.
Now we're at a state where it's no longer only about the great community, but more about the population. Which means that many of the people who choose to come here are not transfering because of the community, but only because of the population.
This stage of community is the stage that brings the people who treat our faeblight like a regular PVE server and say "if you don't like it, leave the chat channel.", when really the problem shouldn't exist.
WhatI believe would help - as a last resort - (which we're almost at if we don't want to see RP die) is a new shard (or one of the older shards that has been retired) needs to be made an RP server - but this time Trion needs to set out rules, make them strict, STICK TO THEM and police it. It is not possible for the community to do all the policing. Sure, we can report - but our voice is so small now in the grand sceme of things. And really, we have no recourse.
Make it an RP server, not a PVE-RP server. Then anyone who is seriously tired of having to RP around the population seekers can transfer. It feels backwards, I know. .. having the original population being the ones forced into the move - and we may loose a lot of people who choose to stay. But at least we'd have the choice. As it stands, Faeblight is a PVE server just like any other - but with the designation of RP. I read that as similar to Headstart when people said "This PVE server is the unnofficial Ocieanic Timezone Server".... Faeblight has become unofficially RP.
Either that, or we, as a RP community police Faeblight ourselves. The trouble with that is - inconvienent is not against the TOS - so we have no recourse.
Anyways - long story short - I support RP!

Faeblight will do what Faeblight has always done and will always do: Remain open and welcoming to -ALL- who come to our neck of the woods.
Is it annoying to native players when we see so many lolspeakers and PVE/PVP-only people moving here? Yes. But what makes us as a server different and perhaps better than the rest is that we know how to get over it, not let it phase us, and always continue providing an open and friendly community for all who wish to take part. The trolls and jerks will slowly filter out as they always do.

There's a good amount of people transferring in because some of the recent game releases and player departures have left some guilds and shards struggling. When this happens Faeblight is a relatively good place to go for players looking for change because it has a good sized population (I think its always been top 4 servers in terms of population... at one point we even surpassed Wolfsbane for top which is pretty much always first), lots of cool community events, one of the most active in game populations (and the most active forum presence), plus after all of that it has also remained one of the most stable shards in all of Rift, it has had very little of the huge dropoffs in populations some of the other shards like Briarcliff have had to deal with. Basically we are just a pretty cool shard. We should be welcoming because these same transfers help keep us as stable as we have been, for example, Faeblight had a recent dropoff similar to other shards according to some of the server sites (I'm sure we all recognize a few of the raid groups that disbanded), but its basically almost recovered to its predropoff populations mainly because of the new guilds coming in and calling it home.![]()

I don't see RP dying anytime soon. I don't know much about Defiant side, but it is very rare for me to not see something going on in Argent Glade when I pass through. I also have noticed a rather large amount of RP in places like Sagespire and Chancel of Labors recently, which is something I cannot recall seeing more than a handful of times prior to my return.
What are you suggesting we should do besides report names? Are you saying we should abandon the very thing that makes Faeblight great, the community spirit, and start acting openly defiant (no pun meant, heh) and offputting towards PVEers who choose to move here?
No, the only thing we can do is report names, but our voice has become such a small percentage that most people are not even aware (or don't care) that names like KingPVPer are not approprate. What's worse is, with all the people who do not care turning a blind eye, the people who DO care are the ones getting flack for trying to uphold that small part of enforcable restrictions.
I agree on some levels. Our community spirit is what is a big draw for a lot of people, but, at least more frequently, it is more about the population being stable and rather large. If everyone came here for the spirit of the community AND came with an open mind about RP. If everyone transfering in was respectful of the fact that this is our RP home - our only home. We would not have a dicussion about it at all. It's the few bad eggs - those who have come in search of people and slyly ignore the community in such a way that they are disruptive but cannot be reported - that have made it so hard to welcome everyone else.
RP is big on Defiant side also, don't get me wrong. I just don't feel the same "warm embrace" I used to feel from the RP community. I used to see open RP all over. Now it is mostly closed, to individual groups who schedual their RP in the same way others schedual raid night. That, I believe, has a lot to do with the community and the lost love between the RP'ers and the general population.
