There is nothing wrong with black listing idiots and morons. In fact, I would say because there is such a lack of it and a lack of accountability with the way transfers are handled that it leads to these types of players and behaviors being more frequent.

I agree something should be done about people needing on recipes they can't use. If you can't use it, you don't NEED it. The same with Eternal Planar Dust in open world. They should be greed only.

On the other hand, some people take this "ninja looting" thing way too far. Here's my personal experience from yesterday. I joined a PUG for GP and agreed to heal. I normally DPS, so this gave me an opportunity to challenge myself a bit in the process although I really didn't need anything from GP. Master looter was never set and no rules were given as to how everyone was to handle loot (main spec, off spec, etc.). I passed on every single piece of loot that dropped until the last boss who happened to drop a trinket that healed 900hp when you got hit. I thought this would be a great trinket for open world soloing since I do that a lot to farm and complete zone invasions. I needed on it along with three other people. I won the roll with a 40 and told everyone thanks for the run and ported out.

What followed I was not expecting from Faeblightians. I was sent tells and called everything from a "baddie" to words I cannot post on these forums. One guy decided to put me on ignore so I couldn't even reply to his tells. He kept saying I did not need the trinket and that it only proced when you hit something which is wrong. It clearly stated it proced when you got hit. Everyone gets hit, so everyone can use it at one point or another. If it stated 'on block or deflect' I would not have bother. If Trion doesn't want all classes to need on something, they limit it to certain classes. This was not the case with the trinket.

I don't think I was in the wrong since no rules were set. What do you all think?

Recipes are fair game IMO. Personally I'll need on what I can use - but most people in randoms will hit need if one pops up anyway. The thing is, you can dump a profession and learn a new one. They don't sell for that much on AH (you can make up the plat by selling just a handful of the craft you just learned) and a lot of recipes end up in your guild banks as well. Oh god, it's just a recipe

Rolling need on planar dust is stupid and you should be laughed at if you do it.

Also to the above poster, I think most people in pugs (10-20 mans) respect the MS>OS loot rule. However your pug was stupid to not set a master looter or establish loot rules before the instance started. Honestly, if I were healing the instance, I would have passed on the trinket and let melee have first shot at it. Did you not ask if you could roll OS? And I don't see how that trinket would be all that for a caster, sorry.

Moral of story: set loot rules and ask before you roll like a doosh

Completely offtopic: There are a few better options for you as a mage if you need trinket/greaters for soloing/farming mobs.

Not to mention that Totem of Uruluuk is complete poo.

In my opinion, all players in a PUG are entitled to need, greed, or pass as they see fit. There's no ninja looting in PUG rolls, just players complaining they didn't win a roll. Everyone pays the same to play, everyone sits in the same queue, everyone contributes to the same fight. If the need button is active, then need is a valid option.

I hate to be a pessimist, but I expect all those things in every single dungeon so that I'm happy when it doesn't. It's like being surprised when you put on your turning signal and somebody lets you change lanes instead of closing the gap to block you.

It would be nice if the game would automatically blank out "need" options for people that don't have that profession. That way, when a recipe drops, only people who have the profession see it or are able to roll need on it.

Also, LanceKnight, is that a Draenei in your sig?

If you say "plz" instead of "please" because it's easier to type, then I will say "no" instead of "yes" for the same reason.

If I'm playing the healer and the tank rushes through without allowing me to loot (our guild's rules are "kill the mob, loot, get shinies/harvest, kill the mob, rinse and repeat") may well help me practice my rezzing skills.

What the OP is referring to is a post that was closed in regards to someone needing on a recipe and winning said recipe.

    A RECIPE.

(I heard it was a cupcake recipe)
No wonder none of us can make cupcakes on this shard. That ninja has the ONLY cupcake recipe to ever drop.

PS you made me giggle a little

Problem here - firstly some ppl need on recipes for alts. Be that right or wrong, it's a valid argument.

Also, need is already greyed out for cloth if you're a Cleric, or leather if you're Warrior, even though that item may be a huge upgrade. Can't count the amount of times I've asked a rogue to pass the cloth they just won, because actually I NEED it, but Trion says I'm not allowed....

Pugs are rife with ninja looting, bad behaviour and general malarkiness. Bit like life rly, you have to suck it up, learn your lesson and move on. Sad, ain't it?

Pretty much this. I feel zero guilts when tank rushes ahead of me, pulls, and dies. I really loves my tank friends, but you do not set the pace...the healer does.

I really feel zero guilts when a healer thinks he sets the pace and I forget to taunt mobs off him. I really my love my healer friends, but they do not set the pace...the tank does. ;)

    lolz

No point in debating who sets the pace... As primarily a heala my ego wants to think it's me , and then I find myself in KB for an hour in a low dps pug.

Guess Rift is still a team sport after all

As for loots - well, if I don't get the item I want, then there's my excuse to play more Rift.
"But honey I really NEED that loot."
