<Exposure> Has completed the "Hammerknell Conqueror" achievement tonight, and we are back to stay on Faeblight. As was said when we left it was only due to the lag, and now that it seems to be fixed we're back.
We also completed our second groups RoTP:Conq achieve this week.

Congrats on Conqueror, Exposure.

Hey there, everyone!
<Synergy> has by and large been a casual guild for the entirety of its existence - we just happened to have a very mature and reasonable group of raiders that enjoyed exploring content without worrying too much about loot drops and the like.
Since we started, we've grown a LOT and now have more raiders than we know what to do with (last night, while forming for GSB, we had 35+ people wanting to come).
We intend on evolving a group into a "progression" group that will begin full-clearing GSB and ROS and carry on from there but I've never been more than a casual raider and was wondering if anyone could give some tips on how best to raid progressively? We plan on having both a progressive raid as well as a PUG raid for all of our raids, including the baby ones like DH and GP.
Any feedback - on this forum on through my inbox - would be immensely appreciated.
P.S. We're tackling ROTP tomorrow! WOO!

Progression Raiding is really just committing to a time schedule and sticking to it. We do 3 nights, 3 hours each. You can progress with much less though. The key is finding the amount and schedule that gives your raiders the progression rate they want while being within their time commitments.
The guild is not the only one progressing. The actual Raiders and Raid Leadership are too. That is why keeping a 'core' is what most progression guilds do. The more raiders in your core, the more stable it is if people don't show up, but the longer it will take to progress because the experience is spread out more. We follow a 24 man core (6 raiders for each class to show up) and a 8 man reserve we can never keep full!.
A lot of it falls down to your raiders reading up on the fights and the raid leaders working on getting them through it. Managing expectations is key.
As an example, when we started on Zilas we went in just to see how far we could get. The next week we just wanted to get past 1 add phase. Baby steps. If you can get your raiders excited and convinced it was a good run because you got the boss down 5% more or made it to the next phase, you'll win.
As far as path, I would not wait to clear RoS or GSB before starting on HK. I'll give you an example of our plans for ID to see where I'm going with this:
We will Raid HK on Thursday, on Monday we will clear HK up to 10/11 and spend the rest of the day in ID. On Tuesday we will spend all day in HK.
One we get 11/11, we'll move Monday to be full HK clear and then rest ID with Tuesday being ID. As we get further in ID and faster in HK we'll see HK drop to 1 night.
The thing is, 3 nights, 3 hours, on 1-3 bosses is not fun for our level of raiding. Mixing up established content with new progression may help you guys too. There is a lot of grey between hardcore raiding and casual raiding. Progression is achievable at any shade. It is up to you guys to figure out where you fit.
We also found it useful to have a few leaders from other guilds (for us it was Play Nice) that we could message when we were stuck and could not figure out why.

yay I've been waiting for someone to report that for a while ^^ what is the date on it?
Also welcome back Exposure! Grats on conqueror(your original progression has been restored)
@Discordia- I just went with changing the Discordia titles to Discordia/AV Alliance, I think this is the best option, because if it were to be a seperate entity from Discordia I would have to retire the main group progression, and we'd have to find all the content clear dates again.
@Synergy- I think you'll have fun, raiding can be a really neat way to enjoy the game and communicate with others. As some have already pointed out, the best tip for raiding is to find a consistent time schedule that works for everyone (so people know when to meet up, and can plan around and know what to expect). It doesn't have to be hardcore or anything, just something the group is comfortable with. I think persistence alone is the most underrated quality in a raid group, if people are willing to take the time to work together towards an encounter, and take steps to improve at a gradual pace, you'd be surprised at how much content you can tackle. In fact, I'd say a lot of the progression in our main guilds even is less about being raid core, and more about just continually pushing at content until it finally clicks!
Other than that, I think its important for the guild to have a good mindset and not have too much drama surrounding failed attempts, etc.. Have guildmembers work with each other and help improve areas that need help instead of criticisizing them. Along these lines I think its important to set up how you want to distribute loot beforehand, and, in my own experience, I would use something that is objective (like a effort point/gear point, dkp, or roll modifier system) rather than subjective (loot council, or officers choosing who gets each item). Finally, its a good idea to set up a voice communication channel if you haven't alreadyNot just because it makes in game raid communication easier but it also gives the raids a little more flavor.
Anyways, good luck out there! Hope to hear more from you guys.

Why would you have to retire the main group progression? We're still working on downing Silgen (he's a huge jerk) with 100% Discordia people - no help from AV.
Not that I mind the decision, but eventually we'll be on our own again and we'll be bringing alts into the AV/Discordia raid while our mains do guild progression. Won't be for a while, but still.
Thanks for listing us, regardless.![]()

The best thing since 1.8 Ranger changes.
Discordia/AV Alliance: 4/4 RotP ~ 9/11 HK
I agree! We've been raiding casually since January and there is a core group of us that maneuvers through DH, GP, AND GSB without so much as batting an eyelash. Our approach to "include as many people as possible," though, has slowed down overall progression. While I personally don't mind progressing at a snail's pace (we have fun and laugh a lot in Ventrilo, which is more important to me than gear any day), we are looking for new challenges to tackle and are looking forward to bashing our proverbial head against Rise of the Phoenix and River of Souls.
Thank you to everyone for your input - we're having an Officer meeting on Thursday and will figure things out from there.
