Just about to hit 50, break it to me gently

hello, my names matson and im a warrior. Ive leveled up pretty much in WFs alone and ive loved every min of it. Mainly dew to the fact that with a healer behind u warrior is one of the most fun classes in the game imo. I aint to keen on 1v1. Also at low levels with no pvp gear warriors are a little op.
Now at level 50 ill have the basic epic favor gear etc but is a dps role para/... even worth trying or am i going to be nuked down in seconds with out speccing heavy tank. Just any advise from any other warriors on what they did would be nice.
"you will still get nuked down as tank" is not an answer im really looking for

I've been sat willing myself "gentle gentle gentle" I don't know if it's too many years of violent internet games or that my father left when I was young, I just can't find a gentle angle, so, your going to get utterly spanked either way as a new lv50, go for DPS and try kill something along the way, don't worry about it too much just respawn and get stuck back in to ranking up, if in doubt, kill it before it kills you (DPS+++)

But to break it down; PvP doesn't really exist in Rift right now, but they've promised huge improvements coming in the near future (more complex combat, open RvR zones with objectives, and alternative Warfronts.
