This entire post is completely OOC. Details from it may not be used In Character without permission from the leadership of Clandestine.
"The one thing that enslaves people more than any other to the servitude of war is nationalism—the patriotic cant—Religious cant is feeble; its on a down slope fighting to hold territory—but the patriotism—all the noxious influences of the world seem to have thrown their tentacles about it—Its the mask of all the trade-greed & the glory-breed—and the asininity that makes people insist on sacrificing themselves on the nearest altar—no matter how brazen the God above it." - John Dos Passos
The Clandestine
A purpose: To Defeat Regulos
A plan: Unite the factions, stand strong
A will: stronger than the toughest mineral
A whisper: In the shadows, where you don't expect it.
We are a neutral guild, sitting in between the factions and working with people from both factions.
Our main purpose is to unite the factions, so that we may stand together and defeat Regulos once and for all.
Due to this, the guardians among us are branded as heretics if discovered, and the Defiants that work with us will be seen as traitors to their cause.
This means that the Clandestine has to remain hidden. We work in the shadows, and whisper in the ears of people we believe we can influence.
Many of us deals in information, and we have several deals with the traders in Fortunes Shore, deals that look innocent on the surface but is so, so much more if one were able to dig deeper.
We never leave a door open behind us, and traitors among our ranks will find their worst nightmares to come true sooner than later.
We in the Clandestine treasure our secret status, and even though it would be a nice plot to run, we are not currently interested in anyone attempting to unveil us, and specifically not without talking to us oocly first.
The Clandestine is an RP guild, placing ourselves down on the heavy end of the scale.
We were formed in the early days of Rift, around March 2011 and since then we have been through both good and hard times - surviving through times of inactivity and shining when people are most. We're extremely proud of surviving the notorious summer, as one of the last standing guilds created around launch.
As of the 16th of August, The Clandestine has taken the step further into becoming a Gaming Community. We plan to soon stretch over more games than just Rift.
As a member of The Clandestine guild, you automatically join the community as well, however it is possible for people to apply to the community without being in the guild.
You can read more about the community as well as the guild on our website, under the "About us" section.
Currently we have divisions in Lotro and SW:TOR.
We host guild meetings at the least once a week, with days selected on the basis of what our members can attend. At the moment the days we use are Tuesday and Thursday, from 7pm game time at various far-away locations in Telara.
Beyond that, we both run storylines for the guild and for the individual member, providing us with events in-between the guild meetings - which gives us a strong connection to the members we roleplay with.
The majority of us also participates in freeform emote fights, during training events and the likes. We're using this technique as our preferred fighting style, and so far we have not had any events that included roll-fighting or dueling. However we do not force fighting down upon a character, but we do encourage that this character uses other abilities to partake in events where others are fighting.
We do not tolerate metagaming, poweremoting and the likes - and all members are encouraged to find a balance point for their character where they do not appear with the strength of a human-incarnated dragon.
OOC communication is important, but we also draw a sharp line between IC and OOC.
In the Clandestine, we follow the lore and every member is guided to avoid the pits of shame that roleplayers can fall into. People that are new to roleplay will be offered to have a mentor who can show them how stuff works in Rift, and help them create a background for their character. This doesn't mean that we're all a bunch of grumpy elitists however! We know that sometimes, lore just doesn't reach and you have to improvise, and for as long as it sounds realistic and in-tune with Rift's general lore, we will do so.
Defiants are more than welcome to join us, though we currently have no official guild on the Defiant side nor a sister guild where you could get in. As such Defiants included to our roleplay will have to be able to communicate with us through our forum, and perhaps even having an alt in our guild on the guardian side for communication purposes is needed. We expect Defiant roleplayers to live up to the same requirements as a Guardian side member.
We also have a channel on the Defiant side, to join it simply type: /Join Clandestine
What we expect of applicants and members alike:
* That you know the basics of lore surrounding the most important areas. Such as the lore behind your race, basic lore about the factions and the war, etc.
* That you have some RP experience. Where as we may take in a newcomer to RP now and then, the build of the Clandestine lore-wise calls for some experience to draw on.
* That you are mature, and that you can tolerate mature language, such as cursing.
* That you are familiar with the common rules of RP, and that you can accept the style we run in the RP.
* That you can separate OOC from IC
* That you understand and accept the concept of consequence of your actions in RP, and stand by the consequences even if they are negative.
