People who think that the arena pvp is good haven't played DAoC (RvR :love:) or WAR (tier 1 open PvP was awesome)

Point is that we mages have to use bugged abilities to be on par with other dps classes. Beside that it's a single target ability and we lose all the good AOE stuff...
Trion never said that. Just because our dps is lacking atm doesn't mean that there ain't gonna be fixing.
I'm pretty sure that the people at Trion have worked their a** off just to get the game...
In PvP it takes way too long to set up all these dots. Beside that Players resist/block more often, get purged, are moving all the time and you are CCed in between.

The dps alone makes them a Bi-Winning class. Add the CC, the plate armour, the fact that all of their abilities are instant and things like bullrush and you have... an OP class without a doubt.
The truth is that the high dps classes can destroy you in 1vs1 because of the high damage output AND will wipe the floor with you in group play if they are having good supporters.

Wrong. It's just bad design when you only need one calling and one soul to do everything. If every calling has got a defined role with its advantages and disadvantages then I would call it balanced....
btw: the waiting time for the warfronts is increasing every day... but yeah, classes are balanced, people are having fun, everything is fine... or maybe not so?
What you need is first hand experience from ingame. Try playing a mage first. Go figure.

nah, just take necro/warlock for easy PvEing through the first levels. With level 13 or 14 you can take quests to get access to the other mage...

Necro is great in PvE but it is kind of meh in PvP. The dots are just tickling, the pet has got no charge (it's damn slow :frown2:), it can be easily CCed, dies pretty fast when hit by magic attacks...
