My impression was that those dynamic, flow-freely-in-the-wind cloaks tend to add more lag when alot of players are present in the same place.

I have plenty of the blue sourcestones for Stonefield, Scarwood Reach and Moonshade, but not a single purple. Never ever got one.

It's still very possible to create your own playstyle.
It just requires a little bit of creativity, as opposed to just jumping on the bandwagon and copying the FOTM build.
