Default Warrior class. Worth giving Prime another go?

As the title says, I mained a Warrior at launch, and played for best part of a month and a half, but the constant godawfulness of Warriors, and the semi-forced specialisation of Beastmaster or Liberator to be competitve drove me to madness.
Combine that with some pretty toxic players in the PUG system (EU player who was part of an USA guild because of a friend), and the game was killed off for me.

Main thing is, I love Rift, and want it to succeed, and am quite happy to throw money at Trion, and dedicate myself to the game fully, but I just want an honest thought from some if it is genuinely worth it?

Has Trion improved with their balancing, and are the specs a little more even without pigeonholing? Or is it still an outrageous mess of "We don't really *quite* know what we are aiming for here, and mainly just fire-fighting"?

    Any thoughts appreciated

    Default It's getting better.

If you want to be an amazing healer or support at 50 it's a fine class.

If you want to tank decently one mob at a time at 50, its a decent class.

If you have friends who will invite you to raids, it's playable as DPS.

    Literally the problem.

I want to just DPS, and not be pushed into Healing or Support, seems to go totally against the class fantasy to my mind.

As for being invited to raids? Why take a warrior if there are other higher options available? As I said before, it was difficult and had to rely on PUGing due to guild being USA, and myself being an EU player. I was in the guild because of a real life friend, so it would be not to my interest to leave so to speak.

I shall take it as a "No" then that it isn't worth returning to the game then, as it seems the problems I was having have yet to be resolved.

    Thanks!

Not sure where Sarrath is getting his information, but this most recent patch has done incredible things for Warrior dps. It's not uncommon to see Warriors in the upper eschalon of the damage meters, even topping it in certain situations.

Warrior tanks are fantastic as well.

You can do damage as a warrior and do top damage no problem now. Come back and try it out!

I also agree that the first reply didn't seem to be well informed.

You don't have a lot of options when it comes to damage but 51 para is very competitive now, in fact all callings are quite close. Champ is also good for aoe, still not as good as sab but the margin is a lot smaller then what it was.

Single target fights I have seen warriors on top and constantly in the top 5, depending if the fight is melee friendly or not.

I am working on getting my original warrior to level 50. I gave up on it at level 30 so my opinion is its worth to come back and give the warrior another chance.

Yep, that's why the first two kills of GSB had 1 and 2 Warriors in them...

Yes Warriors don't have a spec that can cleave and do good ST, but also it comes down to the fact that the high tier players all didn't bother with warriors to start with.

The top end raid guilds you find very few level 50 warriors.

Also note the lack of clerics, they have almost the same number.

There is just a lot of sabs because it is so useful on that fight, the fact that sab can do great ST and aoe plus it can move plants around......... Of course you will stack them.

    Thanks a lot guys!

I still have 30 days Patron remaining it seems, so shall give it another crack. Just have to see about an EU guild instead, as the PUG community really wasn't too my liking

    Appreciate all the responses!

I think this is the best reason. Whose the best tanks in the game? Mages
Who are the best healers? Warriors and Rogues

    WTF?!

Don't get me wrong, I like that mages can tank and stuff, but the main guys should at least do what they do best, THE BEST.
