Update Error #1009

Hey, i bought RIFT off steam and after downloading and installing the game, i come across this error when trying to patch/update the game.

"Could not connect to update server. Please check your network settings. (Error #1009)

i think one of the files are corrupt but im not sure, i need help trying to figure this out ... can anyone help?

It may be your firewall blocking the patcher, check your settings or turn it off and see if that helps. Also make sure you are running the patcher as administrator.

I have same issue also. I am a old returning player and played for a few months on game release. I fought with this new streaming client trying to install it. It actually did install finally after a couple days but was corrupted then started returning the #1009 error again when attempting to recover and reinstall. Not sure what the issue is but I even turned off my firewall completely trying to install this new client and still get the #1009 error.
