Google the missing file, download it into your rift game folder.

The fixed patcher should have made its way to most patch servers by now. If you still see the DLL not found message or infinite patching loops please wait a few minutes and retry, it should eventually get updated on a server close to you.
Apologies for the inconvenience and for the extended downtime. We have certainly found a few places where our rollback process can be improved, and will be working on that shortly.

Confirm Self Patch
I can confirm that the selfpatchlive file works and is updated, and for those of you that cannot follow the previously listed instructions to get to it, well, I don't know if there is any additional help for you. Having spent time in my professional career dealing with people like that, there really isn't an answer for them, they just want to be mad and believe they should be catered to hand and foot and shouldn't have to learn how to do anything 'new'.
Moreover, I do agree with their overall statement that it is BS, and does show how inexperienced the developers actually are. (Beyond the trained eye easily seeing that the game is WoW/EQ2 hybrid as far as interaction and generic world object data is concerned.) Irregardless of that, the game is still fun.
However, as it is simply human nature to err, I do understand how it could happen. But remember the business world is not a kind nor forgiving place. Please remember to test your patches before they are released. Often people get in such a hurry that they forget the simpilist of things.... in this case a set of shared files that are required to even make the thing work. You wouldn't expect your car to work without a key/ignition switch would you? Try not to forget the things that are essential in the future.

Missing .dll fix notification
Ah, well, I wish I had known what could have been done. I read through the forum posts and uninstalled and reinstalled as it suggested. The one evening I get to relax and play rift with my guildies and I can't.
I suppose it fits with my day at work - people forget the simplest of things and it makes more work for me. Well, not work really - just wasted time. At least I'll get paid for the co-worker's mistake. Hopefully after the installation Rift will work again and I can play tomorrow night.
My question is: would this have been fixed if I had not uninstalled? If so, why were we not told "Don't uninstall and reinstall" by a developer? Please be more informative in posts. If you are a developer, perhaps put that as part of your signature line. Some people sound techy, but some of us don't know who is or who isn't.
I do enjoy the game. I've been playing MMORPG for almost 10 years now. This is a great game. Constantly adding new content and trying to make all us happy little campers.
Please note that I tried to log into the game around 7:40PM CST. I don't know what time the craziness started, but at the time the forum was still not very informative. Thus the uninstall-reinstall dance.
Good luck and happy gaming all!
