Default What is Up with the Endless Patcher Updates?

For over a month now nearly everyday I log on I have to download two to three patches. This past week it went to four. Today I'm on my 10th one and it has been several hours to boot! What is going on? Is the patcher broke or something?

The same thing is happening to me every so often. Often takes me 20+ patches before I can play.

Currently on the phone with trion tech support. They've run me through a whole bunch of steps. And are saying that its Data Corruption on our end and more than likely have to reinstall. Typical

    Default Argh!

Fixed mine by deleting the update server pointer in my host file.

    Open the hosts file

This worked for me (although I didn't get there using Run, I just clicked through my files); copied/pasted from Sunnock in another thread:

Go to the Start menu and choose Run. Type the following in the Run dialog box: Edit Host File
For Windows NT and Windows 2000
    C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc
Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Find the file called ‘hosts’ and double–click it. If prompted, specify that you would like to choose a program to open the file with from a list of programs.
Choose ‘Notepad’ from the list of available programs.

Delete the line referencing the Rift update server. Updates will still work.

Save and close. (It's possible you have to run Notepad as Administrator, but I'm not sure)

Edit: Odd I had the refernace of wher EI got this info in my original post but it didn't get posted. I copied this from Sunnock in another thread http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-gene...t-loop-11.html

I was able to get mine to work after deleting the base files and rapidly trying to interrupt the update request. Nonetheless I also removed my hosts file reference to the update server. Lets hope it takes of the issue.
