    Default RIFT Mobile Authenticator - There was a problem generating your serial key

    I have an evo shift which runs the andriod 2.2 OS. I downloaded the authenticator from the market place and installed it with no issues.

    When i went to add the authenticator to my account it said that the serial number was invalid ( i navigated to setup first and entered the code with -'s in it) I clicked the blue "get new key" button at the bottom and received the error "There was a problem generating your serial". I tried this a few times and then uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Now when i launch the application and go to setup i receive this error every time.

    Please advise.

    Their authenticators are terribly inconsistent. Mine doesnt work most of the time (stock nexus one) and so if I go to reset my key it also fails.

    A) Try the sync button at the bottom.
    B) Check for updates.

    The sync button will keep your device in time with the server that is generating the code. I have noticed that the device application can and will lag behind a few seconds at times. I just hit sync before typing in the code every time now.

    As for updates, I am not seeing one currently.

    I hope one of these resolutions assist you as customer service is the only way to remove the authenticator at this time and they are closed for the weekend.

    Thanks but none of that works. If you look on the Android Market comments for this app you will see that many people have this problem. Trion does not have phone support over the weekends either.

    I use soft tokens for games like WoW, and at work for RSA authentication. The implementation Trion has used is clearly inferior. I expect to be re-imbursed for lost game time. They should at least allow you to remove it from the account management website.

    I was hacked today and went to add the authenticator to my account and this exact same thing happened. i put in the code on the web site and it said invalid then when i clicked to get a new one on my phone it said it couldnt do it at this time and serial key window just stays blank. Now the worst part is i cant log into the game beacause i get error 2001 witch i assume meens that even though it said my key was invalid on the webisite, it did in fact go through.

    Default Sync button and wait

    I was getting error 2001 also and hit the sync button and tried to get in. It didn't work the first two attempts but 3rd time I hit the sync button I watched the code change in mid countdown and when the next one came on the screen I typed it in and got in. Lame, but at least I'm in. I sent an email to customer support as well.

    1. Update your authenticator app.
    2. Sync.
    3. Restart phone.

    Its updated and i don't have a sync button on mine. i just have the setup and help options and when i click get new key in setup it gives me the error message saying cant get new key

    Same here, mine works great (sometimes does lag & i end up having to put in a new code)

    My Desire HD just updated to 2.3 version of Android and Rift authenticator stopped working.

    It didn't give me the code so I did what every non-RTFM male does and reinstalled the software on my droid.

    Of course it doesn't give me the serial key to activate the program. Am I really bound to call to the customer service to get the game working for me and does the authenticator even work with 2.3 android?

    This sucks.

    i cant play Rift till this gets fixed on the Andriod because i recently reinstalled the game and have to setup the Authenticator Serial Key again but i cant because of the app not working

    I WANT TO PLAY SOME RIFT

    Same here. I update my phone to Android 2.3 last night.

    But the authenticator clearly wont work with this update. It wont give me a code at all.
    Also reinstalled the app and now it wont even generate a serial key to set it up. So no Rift for me this weekend.

    Trion, please let us disable the authenticator ourselves from our account pages, or be available by phone 24/7.

    I just ran into a similar issue after moving my Vibrant to CM7. While I had backed up the Trion MA and was able to restore it with the serial key intact it no longer shows a security code. Trying to get a new key results in the program spitting out the unable to generate key error. This is really disappointing. While I think Trion is working in the right direction things like this are not acceptable and should be addressed. As stated above me provide 24/7 phone support or give us the option to remove the auth on our own. I guess I'll be calling in tomorrow morning from work to get this issue resolved. So much for enjoying my day off in Rift. Cheers.
