    Default Mobile Authenticator problem - help!

    Yesterday I downloaded and installed the Mobile Authenticator app. Great idea, I dig the concept. Worked fine the first time I logged in. Even got my "the Ironclad" title in the mail.

    Today I flashed a new ROM on my phone (yeah, I'm one of those Android geeks) and once it was done I reinstalled the Mobile Authenticator app.

    Just now I went to log in to the game, and opened the app on my phone to get a code. I get no temporary authenticator key - I just get the error message "This device has already been registered with a Trion Account. Please contact Trion Customer Support." Uh oh.

    I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but no dice. The app seems to want me to go through the setup process again before giving me a login code, but it won't let me because it already recognizes my phone. Meanwhile, the actual game's login screen won't let me in without an appropriate authenticator code. The authenticator page on the Trion website wants a code generated by the app, but the app won't even give me a setup key so I can re-pair the device!

    What do I do now? I'm missing out on valuable world event time

    Hey! I just wanted to say that I am having the same problem! I installed gingerbread on my DX and now I can't get a code either. I can't seem to find anything to undo or reset this.

    I've seen other threads with this issue, but I don't remember seeing anyone post a solution. Just that they've been trying to contact Customer Service to see about a fix.

    You might want to do a search and see if any of the other threads have been updated with good news.

    I did the same thing just now, and I did this many times with WoW. I should have learned my lesson by now, but with Android I flash a new rom on my phone every other week. I just opened a ticket with support and hopefully they can just remove the authenticator from the account.

    I did a brief search and couldn't find anything. Although it did seem like the general consensus was to call the Trion support number and go from there. I will probably try that tomorrow assuming I haven't heard back from the ticket that I opened. I feel like they can just remove the registration and let you do it again, but they probably want to make sure you are who you say you are before they remove it, hence why you have to call it in. It is a little bit of a hassle, but I would rather them be safe than sorry.

    What the heck their call center is closed all weekend?!

    My authenticator simply is not working and I dont know why, this is phenomenal

    In the future, one thing you might want to try is using Titanium Backup to backup the authenticator app, and then making sure to choose "App+Data" for the post-flash restore (or just Data if you've already reinstalled the authenticator app). I haven't tested this with the Rift authenticator (and so long as the call center is closed I'm not going to), but I know it worked for the Battle.net one.

    Well stupid me, I downloaded and installed the new authenticator program on my android today, but the first time I got to get to my computer was after customer support had closed for the week?! What?! No customer support on weekends?!! I registered per the instructions on the android app to my account, then went to log in but the app won't generate a code to use on the log in screen it just shows the set up steps only and I cannot access my rift account until customer service responds, not smart on either side, I should have waited and read forums for issues first, Trionworlds should have thuroughly tested their application before releasing it. And in either case, Trion should allow the user to remove their own authenticators from their account rather than be forced to wait 2-3 days like myself and I assume many others.

    First, a possible solution to your problem. Try it again after you reboot your phone. I had the exact same problem, it kept showing me the serial number and no code. I signed onto the Rift Launcher, rebooted my phone and then it showed the code when I opened the app. I think it may need some acknowledgment from the launcher before it starts showing a code.


    Second, I bought a new phone today and ran into the same problem as other people here. I can't re-register the new app.

    There needs to be a way to enter a NEW serial number and not just crap out and say the device is all ready registered.

    Thankfully, my old phone still works on WiFi so I can play the game, but as people get new phones this is going to be a huge problem.

    I sent in a ticket and will post what I get back.

    I have sent two tickets and called twice. No go. The CS lied to me that there would be a removal of the authenticator. No go.

    I am one sad college student with no more games THIS weekend

    SO, to recap this entire thread!

    STOP MESSING WITH ROMS ON YOUR PHONES.

    you can not copy the authenticator app from phone to phone (which is what's going on when you slap a new rom in) if you could, the bad guys could grab your authenticator token, which'd make it useless no?

    if you've done this, you're going to have to CALL tech support, prove who you are, and have them remove the authenticator from your account. have them do it while you're on the phone with them.
