Trill, this is a known issue for you with traffic either being throttled or incorrectly prioritized by your ISP or the common carrie that takes the traffic outside of austrailia. You can talk to your isp and encourage them to talk to trion to correctly prioritze the traffic, but other than that, not a lot you can do unfortunately

It means what traffic gets to go first in line.

peer2peer traffic gets low priority because so much of it and it slows everyones internet down. Means your web pages and gaming gets in line before peer2peer

If the ISP doesnt know what rift is, the traffic doesnt get a label (peer2peer, web, game, etc) and goes into an unknown traffic label that is usually low priority and goes last in line causing lag, or is outright blocked (leading to cant connect or disconnects)

Wow is well known and has been given a traffic label by the isp for correct prioritization

It's the isp's settings, nothing you have control over directly

You can, but the person you talk to when you call in might not know what you are asking for

Too true. last time I phoned sky they were trying to get me to take my telephone jack apart. So how do we go about this then. Is the only option to wait got Trion to make the approach? If the numpty in the other end of the line isnt up to speed and Trion cant get them to make the required changes then what?

It might be an idea to know exactly which ISP's we are dealing with here. I know BT, VM and Orange have had issues and they are or have been dealt with but I'm with sky broadband. I have seen other people with my problem from sky so thats one for the list.

Easiest is ask for someone that can open up an internal network ticket. Some isp's call this their engineering group. If all else, ask the front line rep nicely for a supervisor, they ysually at least know the different departments

This is this acount holders brother (and better looking brother).

I was on the phone to our ISP for over an hour attempting to resolve this issue.

The first 40 minute phone call (yes, first) was unsuccessful for the sheer fact that the line dropped dead halfway through the help desking wanting me to play with my modem settings, after I pinged various websites, IP's, and the game again with all happy and successful results.

The second phone call was about as useful as holes in a condom, TPG Australia (sydney) claim that there is nothing they can do, except slow my connection down which will make it more stable. The problem with this is the fact that there is nothing wrong with our internet connection.

    Haven't given up.

Can't figure out how to edit a post. But which ports do I forward? I found a guide on portforward for my router for RIFT to forward ports 6900-6929.

Correct? A third phone call to TPG just came up with this, to port forward. It is the last stretch, then TPG rift players will have to return the game.

5 minute edit limit is up.... Port forwarding did not work. At least for those ports.
