Default ******ly Low FPS on a pretty decent rig

So basically I'm running at an average of 20 FPS, and in instances, such as RoTF I run at about 10 FPS...

I'm running on medium quality graphics with every checkable box unchecked.

    My rig has:

    Radeon HD 4650 512MB
    8gigs of Ram
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz

Now, additionally, I can run on Ultra settings... and get the same exact FPS.... Or I can even run on Minimum settings....and guess what? get the same FPS. Doesn't make sense to me, any ideas?

For starters your rig is "pretty average" & not "pretty decent". Your GPU is basically crap & you expect awesome FPS in a MMO that was released a week ago?

Having said that, changing the res/settings with little to no improvement indicates a processor bottleneck. Read the sticky above.

Considering I run the Crysis 2 Demo at Ultra settings with 40 FPS? Damn straight. Runnin' Aion at max settings with 50 FPS? (Which has much better graphics) damn straight. Especially since this game advertises "Highly Accessible HD Graphics: Play a game that has stunning visuals on virtually any computer, even if your PC isn’t state-of-the-art."

Not to mention, my processor isn't being bottlenecked, I already checked that and it's no where near being bottlenecked. Not to mention the Recommanded Requirement for GPU is Nvidia GTS 250 or better which mine is quite a bit better than.

I'm lookin' to call attention to what is obviously a fault in programming so that it may be fixed (such as many games have, ESPECIALLY when just being released) while all you can do is troll the forums. The reason I underline and bold is to show what they've advertised, and to bring attention to key points so people who just skim can see the problem. For goodness sakes, I doubt you even read the reply.

The GTS250 AKA 9800GT AKA 8800GTS 512mb will absolutely smoke your 4650, the 4650 doesn't even beat a 9600GT, perhaps you need to re-assess how powerful your GPU is.

I think you need to go back and learn about some radeon cards ;) Not to mention even if mien was worse, that wouldn't explain the FPS not changing from ultra to min to low-rendering min.

Uhhh, not to get more upset about the matter, buuttt... ummm, I hate to be the devil's advocate on this... but take a look at YOUR GPU...

    http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/vi...Radeon+HD+4650

    And a GeForce 250 GTS...

    http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/vi...eForce+GTS+250

A 4650 is a upper budget card, only getting HALF the score of a GeForce 250 GTS. So don't say that your hardware is "quite a bit better than" when you kinda are wrong? Google is your friend and I know you can figure it out... Since you just found out that your card isn't that good, try low-rendering mode to see if it improves the fps. If nothing works whatsoever, then I'm sorry :/

Look at the same chart, and read my post right above yours. You chose the mobility radeon 4650, go down the list a little further to the Radeon 4650. It still is a little below the GTS 250 but quite a darn bit closer.

you can crunch numbers all day but ultimately its more often than not a driver issue that cant be resolved without a compatible update.
a workaround can be to clock your timings, more power, new card....

constant quoting of each other wont fix or prove anything
