This is the new, improved list of RP requests and upcoming Role-Play features for Rift! Just like we did with the old thread, feel free to post any new suggestions and feedback to the current RP systems here.

Current Suggestions
A compiled list of your requests in regards to improving Role-play within Rift. As stated before, be sure to manage your expectations on what I can actually accomplish, as many of these items will require a lot of work and may be impossible to complete.

The ability to link different dimensions to each other wouldn't be too shabby, even if it's placeable portals or something of the like. Might be able to make some sort of cohesive "town".

1. Sneaky walk

This requires a bit of work for the animators, still:
- an out of combat special sneaking/crouching stance-skill next to running/walking for every player.

RPing in dangerous zones would look much better, imagine:

A group of four heroes stumble upon a little grove in the middle of the forest. They think there are hostile creatures ahead, so instead of walking graciously or running loudly towards them, they choose to carefully come a bit closer to them (stealthy crouch-stance), hiding behind trees, rocks or in tall grass, until the moment they prepare for fight.

Keep in mind that this is an out of combat ability with no aggro-visibility modifier or any stat-changing, just a "cosmetic" animation, so it's nothing like rogue's invisiblity and it's purpose is completely different as well.

2. bonus animation for new sneaking stance
so, continuing the idea above: when the character stops while in this stance, he kneels down and stays that way. For example, character gets close to enemy camp, hides behind a tree and kneels down while the rest of the team gets there and they think of a plan to invade the enemy.

3. Ability to keep certain emotes active until other action given to character.
For example, it would be nice if characters could salute, kneel, or wave until player decides to stop the animation by either moving away, or doing another action.

4. NPCs should react to player emotes.
For example, when player /wave to an NPC (targeted), if it's friendly, should /wave back.
Or, when player /slap a friendly or neutral NPC, it should react to it by at least saying a "Hey! What's that for?"

5. More emotes
Yes, a whole lot more! For example /pat (patting players on back, or patting a pet) would be nice!


special bonus suggestion: Bahmi's sitting emote should bechanged to something else, current one looks really weird. They should have a little different sitting animation.

6. Disctrict Dimensions
So beside of having individual housing dimensions (like in the LEGO MMO), I think it would greatly increase immersion if these housing dimensions were similar to what LOTRO has: districts where 6-10-20 houses are there as neightbours.

7. Ability to change the look of the house itself
Without any further description, take a look at A Tale in the Desert's house-modifying options:

8. Ingame list of available emotes
Self-explanatory.

9. Abilty to rename minipets (companions) on our own + make their summoning into a more lasting effect, like a stance (companion should not be dismissed after death or after logouts only when player presses its icon again)
on a sidenote, lasting effect of Quantum/Omen Sight should be like this as well, without CD, ever-lasting till toggled off.

9,5. A red/orange fox companion, for gods sake!

10. Animated Emotes on mountback - for example, /wave while on a mount would still play the normal /wave animation

11. More RP achievements (this is tricky tho, they all should be hardcore and special ones) with appropriate rewards (titles, costumes, etc)

special bonus suggestion: a simple "Lady" prefix for all female characters upon lvl60!

These immersion requests mesh right with RP requests, so take them as one in the same (as I don't really RP, but play to exist in a game world):

-sit on chairs. This is even more of an important request because of dimensions.

-chairs. Sitting. Again. Do it.

-weapon wardrobe. Necessary for my enjoyment of collecting weapons. Still at the top of my personal priorities for vanity features.

-agreed that wardrobe and barber should have more options. The tools are now there, just elaborate on them whenever possible!

-agreed with more emotes. TSW has its faults, but lack of emotes is not one of them.

-dimensions would be very good if we could somehow customize the surfaces of locations themselves. The wall of Greenscale's Blight, or the floor texture of a house. Sure, not 100% customization, but options would be good.

-collectable pets that actually 'fight' enemies. They won't do damage, but they will have a single attack animation which makes it look like they're assisting you.


A big point I want to make is that RP features are not only RP features. They flesh out the game overall, and adding in features like dimensions may actually, in side ways, assist Trion in developing other features later on. It all compiles into a larger development process and everyone wins.

example: adding in weapon wardrobe encourages development and player requests for costume weapons. So far, I don't see many players giving a damn about the joke weapons from the Carnival of the Ascended - but with a proper weapon wardrobe, people will be brandishing plows and brooms and bottles against Crucia in no time! It may seem silly and actually unimmersive, but it does add on to customization of our own characters, and that IS immersive.

Improve waking

Interaction with chairs and items.

More emotes, and fluid emotes. (Like sitting on a bench as an Eth but having a leg sticking stright out in mid air does not look natural or comfortable.)

Weapon wardrobe.

Better policing of trolls.

Better variety in armor (less recycling of armor) and allow players to use armor outside their own for costume.

Rp instances. The wedding instance is nice but expand and create more for those who are tired of role playing in the same places over and over. Make them for different occasions like a party, different holidays far away places, etc.

This would be fantastic. The people who want an actual community can have it, while those who prefer a private home can have it, too. Huzzah for cake and pie in one sitting!
