In game walking.

The speed honestly doesn't bother me horribly though it could be knocked up just a notch--that looks reailstic, so kudos.

What does bother me is the actualy animations for the walks. The initial female Elf walk and speed before the change was -ridiculous-. They looked like wind-up toy soldiers tottering off to their friggin' doom, or a very bad attempt at overly cheery peppy 'genki genki' girl.

With the speed change, you still have the same awkward hip rolling. It just needs to be tweaked. No so agressively overt.

As far as male Elf goes, only vaguely do I miss the hum-dee-dum sway of it... but that's mostly because my character was such a goof to begin with. The change to it is fine for me.

My problem with male eth is the speed and lack of arm swing - they walk like I do first thing in the morning and, I'm 46 with arthritis. They are young and should not be stiff and sore, but they now walk as if they are. If I wanted to watch myself doing the morning shuffle, I'd set up a video camera near my bed.

I'd rather the old walk than this. Something in between would be ideal, but the old was better than the new.

Another Hotfix and still no change. Well except I couldn't log-in at first then there was 24000 latency in game... Good thing I'm not playing. Anyway.. check back next HotFix though nothing is being discussed here so I am guessing they have lost interest.

I'd just like to add my voice to the folks saying "Please, please change it back!" I realize that a couple races had a weird bouncy effect going on when they walked but now we ALL look unnatural when we move. Nobody walks that slowly unless something is wrong with them. All these powerful Ascended look like they're grievously ill, exhausted, or trying not to crap their pants on the way to the loo.

Yep. I'm still hating this. It doesn't make RPing scenes that move from place to place enjoyable for me, at all. In fact, it's a chore. Roleplay should never be a chore.

I hold my breath every patch for a change, and let it out with an annoyed sigh when my character is still hobbling around like a 90 year old lady.

I assume there have been no changes to the in game walking. I read about 1.9 and hope maybe these guys put things right. Haven't played now for months and I guess 1.9 will be the last chance for me as my sub runs out. Just got the mail about the expansion, but sadly without the RP mechanic that I love back in game there won't be any purchase here. If they have repaired the busted animation then please feel free to chip in otherwise the game is dead to me. There hasn't been anything said by these faceless guys that created the game here and it seems with the very few posts on the RP forum I am assuming RP has died in Rift and Trion have given up on it. Shame... Had such high hopes. Anyway... back to WoW I guess and seems like I never went away now. Rift is just a memory and fading fast... Don't miss it anymore.

I cannot speak for everyone, but I, personally, find roleplaying in Rift far more interesting and engaging than I do posting about roleplaying in forums.

No... I loved my characters. But they are not what they were and the game changed significantly for me and took away ALL the enjoyment. And although many voiced their views nothing was said or done by Trion so I can only assume they have no intention of putting it back. That being the case I am not investing any more time and money in the game.

As to posting, I was commenting on the fact that there had been no further comment here. Forums are our social way of communicating with the wider community of the game. I can't get a feeling of how players are enjoying the game from just my shard... Particularly as there is like nobody playing on my shards generally... or was. Haven't logged for over two weeks now and last time all the shards were on low during peak.

And all I got from Trion when I raised this issue was a swift 'GOODBYE'. They were sorry to see me leave. Talk about a concerned games provider. Thats when I realised I had to go back to Warcraft.

Would like my toons walks to be returned to pre-1.8 speed and animation! Right now all my females walk like their looking for a good time on some street corner...jeeez. This is disgraceful

Just recently returned to Rift after a long time away, so I have no memory of the prior speed to compare the current speed to ... so from a perspective with no prior expectations, I really find the speed comparable to most other MMOs. I do remember, when I first played, hating the female elf walk but the new one is an improvement.

I haven't tried the Eth walk, so nothing to say on that.

Having actually measured it, it isn't really - at least, not WoW. It was comparable with WoW; now it's much slower.

So do you think they will repair the walk that they ****ed up or do you think it is likely to to remain the **** bollocks that its been the last three months. Just intrigued cus I am getting pretty tired of logging in to find its still ****ed up. At least if one of those **** heads at Trion would have the guts to come here and tell us they are never going to fix it I could avoid coming here and wouldn't need to log into their poxy bloody load of bollocks any more. This has become so tiresome I have to say. I guess nobody at Trion reads the RP forums anyway... There aint any posts so I guess RP has definitely LEFT THE BUILDING.

It's been 2 months since Krunkatron's update on this issue. Has there been any progress? I do hope it won't take another year to see any further change. I appreciate that new animation assets may take time to develop, and that this isn't a top priority issue, but just rolling the walk speed back to pre-1.8 as a stop-gap measure should be pretty easy, and would be much better than what we have now.

Sign of life would be nice, dangerous to your sanity though it may be to stand toe to toe with the hardcore roleplay community.

The fact is, a roleplay forum has been set aside and made by the team, so presumably someone gets paid to read this, so could that someone, whoever you may be, go find Krunkatron, if he's asleep puppeteer him, but above all, respond.
