No more development on the Rift app...

I'm pretty sure Trion is done with the mobile app. It hasn't been updated in months (March 2nd for Android) and it fails completely. I cannot speak for the iPhone version, but the android version has been a huge letdown since the beginning. We all understand glitches, uneven release dates (android/apple), bugs, and the normal stuff.... but this has gone on too long Trion.

- No links (armor, runes, or anything else) work in multiple android phones. Either work with zam to fix it or make your own links.

- Havent heard a SINGLE zone event notification EVER. Nor have any of my friends. I remember an iPhone friend telling me he hears it if he is in the app, but that was near initial release. Fix this please, as of now I use an external parser (a log viewer) to notify me through SMS when there is an event....

- Chat updates.... Sometimes my chat updates, but most of the time I have to log out and log back in to see any chat changes. Very annoying to have to type, then log out and back in to see if anyone replied.

- Lootables.... Used to be great, seems there was a nerf after a few months in but understandable. I still lose about 1/10 scratchables to a glitch but its not near as bad as it used to be.

- ADD NEW STUFF!! For real Trion, your app was a GREAT idea and still can be, add us some new stuff like Conquest starting times, ability to post on guild wall, different scratch offs/rewards, inspect friends/guildies, Action House access, mailbox access, guild bank/bank/inventory access, or more....


At least post here and let us know you are aware of these problems or plan to fix/update them. We have waited over 4 months for any update.

Doesnt work all the time, but it does work with a lot of links

Works every time with me. You just dont get a sound out of your phone, so yeah its useless. but it does work

True, very annoying. Have found it out: DONT TURN YOUR PHONE, keep your phone in the normal position. so Vertical not horizontal. then it works. the second you turn your phone, is the second the chat wont update anymore

only do the 2nd scratchable now. the 1st only gives some plan and sometimes endless planar dust

but indeed I did hope for them to finish this app sooner, cant be that much work

somehow it doesnt update the guildroster as well. New members dont show in the list with me(while they do in my friend list)

Antigonos started a thread about this back in May... it's down the page a bit further.

I've commented on it several times, with no developer reply.

It is my contention at this point that Trion has quietly decided to scrap this project. There is an obvious lack of fixes/patches despite what I can only imagine must be thousands of error reports due to the sheer number of force closes when the app fails... which is entirely too often.

The "chat not updating" thing has been a known issue since release, with no word from Trion if they had ever intended to fix it or not. The thing that really sucks is that sometimes, even backing out to character select and going back into chat doesn't update it- sometimes, logging all the way out doesn't even do it. Sometimes, it just doesn't work period. This is by far one of the most useful features of the Rift Mobile app, and it's often unusable.

The event notifications have never worked properly, even if you set the 24 hour timer on it. There is often no push notification, and there has never been any kind of sounder on the Android version of the app.

The lootables are hit or miss in terms of credits being "stolen" like an old arcade machine, but honestly, I'd be okay with that overall.

Again, a complete and utter lack of response from Dev or Community team, coupled with a lack of updates for the app leads me to believe this is Trion's new "barbershop": quietly swept under the rug to be forgotten for a year or so.

I don't understand why they would secretly abandon such a genius idea. I love being able to talk to my friends when not at my PC or them letting me know stuff when not at their PC. The lootables are glitched to all hell but its actually tolerable.

My big problem with this right now is not showing up in the right guild at all. I'm still getting the active chat from my old guild instead of the one with my friends and its a huge pain. Logging out, uninstalling, force stopping, nothing works. I did a google search for a fix or to see if its being fixed and all I got was threads about this project being abandon. Why do that? I love this app and I would be really disappointed if they just let it die

Considering the recent-ish survey asked questions about what you want to see happen with the app, chances are they have not abandoned it. It takes time to develop a program. Time that they have to squeeze into a schedule that involves a major expansion release.

i hope they get it either sorted out or announce they are scrapping it so we know whether or not to just wait for a fix or get rid of it entirely. granted the app is free to download, so users aren't losing money as a result in neither it's usage or download, but it's so glitchy it would be nice to know one way or another what trion's intentions are with the app. i loved the ability to chat with my guildies when i could not be at my pc, but now it's so bad it's not populating new toons nor recognizing the fact that the existing ones listed are in a guild. it was working so well from the day i downloaded it a month ago then just out of nowhere fell apart. so as it stands it's just collecting dust on my android in the hopes that they push a fix.

Oh, don't get me wrong- I'd love to see development on the app continue. I really hope it does.

But I'm left feeling like it's not being worked on at all when we get no word from Trion about the app for months. We hear about all the other great things going on with the game; why not this app which we all love?

The nerfs are horrible! Use to get source stones a lot, now I'm lucky to get 1 a day. Yes its free but sheesh! Use to be awesome and worth my time playing.

They said they have "plans" for the mobile app, but I think it is too little, too late. I mean how hard can it really be to notify me when there is an event? I use a program to parse the NCL and notify myself of an event. If you want to know what program I use, pm me

I think it's a fun app with a lot of potential (what better way to keep RIFT in a player's mindshare than zone events notes and loot scratch-offs?).

Clearly, all hands are on deck for Storm Legion, so I'm hoping we see some movement on this front after launch. Bugs need to be squashed, and new features would be nice!
