I did a quick search and didn't see anything on this -- but you can actually run the mobile app on your PC fairly easily.

1. Go to http://www.bluestacks.com and download/install the free beta android app player.
2. Use the search prompt in Bluestack's home screen to search for "Rift Mobile".
3. Select the app from the search results to install it.
4. Run the app and follow the prompts to update it / set up your Google account for the Google Play store.
5. Enjoy!

If for some reason you have trouble getting the app to install, you can download the file for Rift Mobile 1.0.12 here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27110501/APK...ftmobile-2.apk

Once you have the file downloaded, it should already be associated with Bluestacks. Just double click the APK file in your windows explorer to install it.

Also, you can turn off the onscreen keyboard so it doesn't pop up every time you click into the text input box:
1. Click the "Settings" button in the lower right hand corner of Bluestacks.
2. Select "Change Keyboard Settings"
3. Select "Built-in keyboard"
4. Uncheck "Enable SoftKeyBoard"

Not sure where the edit button went...

But there was a bunch of discussion in the "NO FAIR!" thread about emulators and saying that lootables doesn't work. It's true that it doesn't work with the Android SDK's AVD (which I did first) but works fine on Bluestacks.

Thank you! I had tried Bluestacks once before, but it wasn't supporting something required for the lootables. Obviously they updated it, and I can confirm it does work now!

Oh this will be useful! I have a rather outdated phone which doesn't support the lootables, this might be my solution to it Thank you!

I can confirm that this works just fine I've got windows 7 as my OS on the pc I installed it on - The loot arrives correctly in my mailbox and everything ^^
Only thing is that the scratch cards "Flicker" on the screen when I scratch them, but it's not so bad that you can't ignore it.

I've run into a problem where the Rift App using Bluestacks wont update guild chat at all, unless I go back to character selection screen. I don't entirely know what has caused this, it happened after I restarted the app when I uninstalled some of the apps it gives you per default.
Working on fixing it right now, but if anyone knows how to then please let me know.

Ah, it seems running the file from the drop-box fixed it.

I have an iPhone and I *HATE* how slow the app is on that. I installed this on my work desktop (and when I get home, I will install it on my desktop) and use THIS.

My wife, who doesn't have a smart phone, will also get an install and start using this work around. She feels slighted by Trion because they refuse to make a stand alone app and she doesn't need a smart phone or the added costs involved with one.

This is perfect.

BTW, I had to use the "work around" version you mentioned ... but I got it working with next to no issues.

Very true. I have no idea when it'll be out of beta or what it will cost. For now, its free.
The app can also be run from the Android SDK emulator, which is always free. The downside to that method is that it doesn't support lootables (and it is much more complex to set up.)
