    Default "Customized" PVP gear

I've been pondering the idea of "customized" PVP gear. I'm thinking about taking something like p50 gear in its stock form and reducing all the stats (not including armor/valor) by 1 or 2 and giving people the option to redistribute these points how they like. In doing so the gear should still be "equal" but yet you can focus on strength, dexterity, Attack power, crit hit, ect . I think doing this would accomplish multiple things. First off it would give some more customization than just having your soul tree and planar attunement, secondly it would help give a "bonus" to being a p50, and lastly it would give more replay value.

At this point of time there is not that much variety between different p50's of the same type, they usually run the same planar attunement with rather similar soul layouts and the same exact gear. Giving a choice in what you want to specialize in will make more variety between what the players play with making everyone's end game character more unique.

With talk of PVP normalization some gamers may find that the appeal of being a P50 to go downhill, especially the people who just got there and had to go through the hardships of turning into a P50. I personally like the normalization idea; I want to see war fronts where skill determines the victor, but at the same time I think there should be a WF/CQ "cookie" for people that max out their character's prestige. Adding "customized" PVP gear will give a cookie in the form of customized PVP gear that still provides for a fair wf, but at the same time allows one to specialize.

Lastly the game will gain replay value due to people having multiple routes to try once they reach end game PVP. I would imagine players would want to try completing multiple gear sets to try out different things. For instance a rouge may at first try to get a dexterity armor set for more dps, but later on he may decide he wants to try out a dodge set for his blade dancer set up, and then later on he wants to try getting an endurance set for tanking. These are just some of the possibilities, people could also mix and match their gear sets for fun, or you could add in the ability to raise 2 or 3 stats for less than the one stat boost. I think People would enjoy tinkering around with their gear sets, and think that they should cost the same favor as the current p50 gear. This in turn would raise the replay value of the game since it would take a while to get all the sets you want.

I'm not sure what the best way to put such gear in the game would be, but here are some of my ideas. First you could have a p50 vendor who sorts out all his gear into different sections such as strength, so people who just PVP can get a full set of any type. This method would look messy at first thought but I would recommend adding tabs at the top of the vendor window that sorts it into being only gear that the tab says such as dexterity. The other idea I have is make a special type of crafting item, where you buy the base recipe from the P50 vendor with favor and from there you buy a PVP Aug with favor. The recipes would automatically soul bind the gear to you once you craft it and would only allow use of PVP Augs, due to the regular augs having a valor option which would ruin the balance of pvp. Also have some of the ingredients for making the gear only available from the p50 vendor to keep the balance of favor nice for crafting the items.

I’m guessing my crafting idea and maybe some of my other ideas are totally off the wall to you guys, but I think that “customizable” armor at p50 would be awesome. What do you guys think? Post any ideas you may have also even if they are partial, other people may be able to polish your idea nicely.

Thanks for reading, have a great day!

normalized pvp gear for ranked matches (either 5v5 or full warfronts), with fluff/cosmetic rewards like awesome-looking gear sets, mounts, titles, neat trinkets or pets whatever. Thus normalization only affecting instanced pvp.

then make owpvp and cq de-normalize your gear back to whatever it is you were wearing.

your reforging idea is quite interesting, and might add a little flavor to rift pvp, but all that's going to happen is people will min-max to squeeze even more dps out of their already OP dps specs, so the current 'boom headshot' style pvp will become even moreso.

Personally I think health pools could definitely use a huge increase in pvp. 20-30k seems like a good # for the current dmg/healing outputs.

the cc/DR system needs a full rework too, but that's a whole another topic.

I do like the idea of customized gear but that would mean redoing the gear and I think that is just a lot of work for Trion to tackle.

Yes the custom gear will allow people to become more powerful but at the same time they would lose endurance by doing so, and they would also go down quicker. Or people can focus on endurance to essentially cancel out the people who boosted up their offence. What I'm thinking about is making armor sets that initially has all their stats bellow the normalized stats, then adding augs to it like a crafter does when making items.

It would be a lot of work to make this idea happen, but if enough people like the idea Trion might decide to take on part of the idea at some point of time. Trion is very good at updating the game a lot and they want to please people so if people end up wanting this type of gear they'll probably get around to making it happen sooner or later. Of course to balance out the whole game they would also have to offer something similar to PVE players for doing top tier raids.
