Wow, my twink must have sucked in the 19 bracket...I was NEVER able to one shot someone. Usually took me a full 5 combo point build-up and a little extra if they didn't move. (but most/all players are stupid enough to run with barbed shot on em and made my life so much easier...kinda like morons running through storm shackles in the 50 bracket)
Was my twink decked? Eh, I suppose so. Mostly lvl 19 blues from grinding dungeons. I never bothered with the purple augs on greens stuff. Source engine took the most time. Outside of the engine the gear took around 4, maybe 5, hours to get.
Did I lose count of the number of people entering wfs next to naked? You bet. Were they crying how op I was? Sometimes. Did I go out of my way to pick fights with anyone over 1600hps? Absolutely. Weird how that worked for me. I read so many anti-twink posts saying the ONLY reason anyone twinks is to "pwn noobs" or "flex my epeen." Umm, yeah:
1) 50 pvp is arguably in the worst state it has ever been
2) 50 pvp on my mage bores me
3) 50 pvp bores me
4) 50 pvp = need raid gear too (rather hard since I don't raid)
5) majority of people I pvp with at 50 have QUIT THE GAME (yay, playing an MMO without the MM)
6) I wanted to check out the hubbub of twinking
7) lvl 19 pvp was a refreshing "break" from the 50 bracket (will i go back to 50? possibly, I rarely play this game anymore.)
8) addition of twinks = low level queues were solid again (they used to be HORRIBLE, and congratulations, they will be again)
9) I wanted to take a stab at the various twinks in the 19 brackets (was fun having 3500 hp warriors chase me around as I nickled and dimed them to death as MM)
If you're the type of person who will happily wait 30m for a wf queue to pop just to avoid twinks, then you are an idiot. There is simply no way around that. Sometimes you have twinks on your team, sometimes you're squaring off against them, and sometimes twinks are on both sides. The bottom line is they did help keep queue times lower than what they will be.
Is there ANY point in buying BOA low level gear now? I'd say it's sure going to see a drop off in sales.
But at least we can get married now!
I'll be fishing in Codex...

Except this is a completely foolish argument, because in Rift a 50 can just wander on over and slaughter newbs on PVP servers any time they want. Being able to reduce your level to make it more fair for the target does nothing negative to this mechanic.
I answered it last time you made this ridiculous statement with no thought as to what actually happens too . .. and yet here you are making the same ridiculous statement.

XP Lock (atleast in PVP) must be removed, and will be removed in order to make room for the Mentoring system and any of it's associated features. A petition like this isn't going to prevent it from happening.

Its not even hard to twink the game is called RIFT!!!! You would think by doing them you would get the best gear lol. If the people who ***** about twinks put in half the effort as they do forum pvping they would be twinked in no time.

Trion, this is a bad idea. I almost never post and I have been loving this game for a long time now, but this is making me seriously reconsider if I want to continue to invest my fun time and money.
I got one level 50 that I am agonizingly leveling up in warfronts (a PR14 Warrior, no less). And after getting creamed time and time again there, it was nice to be able to pick up my 19's and have more balanced PVP. Yep, I said it more balanced. The xp locked ranks are filling in rather nicely and just last night had some of the most balanced matches I have ever seen. One Library ran 1000 - 990ish, had a back and forth Black Garden and this was with a mix of characters all up and down the bracket with different levels of gear. Most fun I have had in this game in a long time.
You outlevel areas so darn fast without xp lock that it is pointless to gear up or stick around. With xp lock, I have to participate in invasions and rifts and zone events for planarite. I need to queue for dungeons so I can pick up some gear and money, I have to do quests to get notoriety up for some nice rewards. It basically invigorates the low level areas. Without it, who cares, just grind to 50 and then get incinerated in unmatched warfronts.
As someone else posted, the favor and notoriety grind being put off to 50 (Conquest do anything for the notoriety grind?) stinks bad. I can't even get consistent Whitefalls anymore? When my 50 hit, I was so unbelieveably not ready for PVP. Which brings me to another point. How best to learn what the classes/souls do when it just doesn't matter that much in PVE pre-50, but matters very much in PVP. xp locking permits me to really learn how to play with the skills available. It gives me time to tweak specs and figure out how best to play them.
I just don't see mentoring offsetting any of that which is lost, I mean why would I even want to 'de-level'? What is the incentive? To get rep I don't need, do rifts for measly planarite and drops I don't need, do dungeons at levels for gear I don't need? I had totally planned on playing the heck out of each level/zone of the game on the way to 50 but why should I even bother now? I have already leveled to 50 once.
I can understand the frustration of being steamrolled. I have had that happen many times as an xp locked character in warfronts (many more times at level 50 though). But that was more a function of how the teams were set up not that an xp locked character is there. In the increasingly rare instance of an unbalanced warfront in my favor, I back off and basically become a loot runner. I never spawn camp because that to me is just overkill and is not the type of player I want to be.
I agree with the petition and would sign-on for segregating them, but give the non-lockers the ability to opt-in to xp locked warfronts when their queue times become unbearable, but above all, please reconsider the removal of xp locking.
P.S. I would also be fine with xp-locked characters being excluded from IA.
Xps locked twinks are for cowards who don't want a fair fight in the the lower WFs, and want easy victories with /faceroll 1 button macro I WIN fights. [flame away, I care not ya chickens]
So, here's my simple solution... let xp locked chars fight ONLY other xp locked chars -- that way all the twinks can battle it out and near equal footing. Longer queues? Too effing bad.
For people just starting with Rift, or casual players, twinks in pvp probably make them hate the whole experience, and probably never want to pvp again. You can say 'wah!' to them if you want, but I think new players and casual players should be able to experience lower level pvp with a reasonable chance of having some fun. Getting wtfp0wned and 1-2 shotted by level x9 twinks in blues/purples isn't going to be fun for them.
Before people say 'but we had to grind, level, etc blah blah blah' Those of us who played from the game's launch never had to face twinks since xp locking didn't exist when we were leveling, and most people we fought were in greens with maybe the occasional blue.
Boy, none of your suggestions or erroneous generalizations have ever been provided on this forum. If all of your 35 posts have been this enlightening, you really should become more involved in the RIFT forum community instead of squandering your talents elsewhere.
But seriously, regarding the higher queue times for twink vs. twink only -- do people think that's the only queue that will be impacted tangibly?

Those of us who have played since beta/early start... had a healthy population of other folks in the same position we were in to level or pvp up with. That hasn't been the case for awhile now - prior to xp lock, the queue times for lower bracket warfronts were horribly slow, and nonexistant at times.
Regardless - xp lock is not the cause of the current problems. Let me repeat that. XP lock is not the problem.
Gear is the problem. Crafted gear made with 300 skill blue and purple augments. BoE gear (crafted or not) enhanced with notoriety runes from much higher level zones that still only require a level 1 item for application. Six-slot source engines decked out with purple essences from prior events.
Combine all of that and you get uber twinks that steamroll everything and are tough to kill because they dodge, block, or you just plain miss against them a lot.
Again... XP lock is not the real issue causing the whining about twinks. I'm disappointed that Trion has chosen to take the easy way out, rather than actually fixing these gear issues and imbalances. I'm disappointed that the measure of fun I've found since 1.8 gutted my warden and made it zero fun to play... mainly running amok in the 10-19 bracket on various toons... is now also being trashed.
Trion, please fix the level requirements for augments and notoriety runes to scale appropriately. Please fix the level requirement on larger-capacity source engines to scale appropriately with level like all other gear. Please do not grandfather existing junk on gear. Please do refund it to folks' packs to avoid the whine-fest.
Please, most of all, do not remove xp lock. Just fix the blatant bullsh*t stuff that makes 'twink' gear so outrageous, and let those of us that prefer to PvP at more balanced lower levels do so when we want to.

l played from launch. I also have level 50 toons that are rank 40. I also have a twink. Calling players that enjoy lower level warfronts cowards, is a bit silly, because in all honesty they are much more balanced, and fun, than the level 50 roflfest is.
It's not the twinks saying 'wha' btw. It's the anti-twinks. You know the ones, the ones with no gear wielding their PvE builds and complaining if their pixels die.
Your post would almost make sense if there was a constant stream of new players in Rift, but there is not.
New players in a few months won't have to worry about low level warfronts at all. They'll have no one to play against, all the anti-twinks will be in the level 50 warfronts by then, posting on forums about how unfair it is to have to grind 50 ranks, and that they're being one shot by squirrels.
The only players that will have longer queues is the anti-twinks, that are by no means competitive, or what I'd class as PvP players. All the so called twinks will return to their level 50 rank 40 toons where twinking really is an issue. Well that is the ones that haven't already cancelled their accounts.
As for the constant calls of players being one shot. I call bs on that.
The whole spirit of PvP has been lost in this game. PvP is meant to be competitive. All it's about here is who cries the loudest. It's pathetic.
I don't agree with the over-powered gear, but I do agree with gearing for your level. Sadly some players in this game don't feel the need to gear until they're 50. To those players, you're missing the fun that 1-49 can be.
Just to set the record straight....
1) Stay Qualm members queue separately in small groups of 2. So a big percentage of the time we wind up merc'd AGAINST EACH OTHER. Trust me, MOST of us prefer a challenge.
2) I've never heard anyone in Stay Qualm rage quit because we got beat by another group of twinks... we quit when we damn well feel like it.
3) Qualm has had a ridiculous work schedule lately. That is the ONLY reason he has not been on as much over the past few weeks.
4) Quite frankly, I have not seen ANY group of twinks that can "absolutely crush" us. Especially if we do all wind up on the same side.
Please take your assumptions somewhere else.
Thanks,
Perkiset <Stay Qualm>

Competitive PVP at level 19 makes me giggle. It's like kindergartners having a wrestling league!
