Default PVP warfront compositions are beyond a joke

Putting new 50's in with r40's game after game after game.... good way to make new customers quit.

Did ascend a friend (and oddly got no benefits as that part seems broken) and my friend is not impressed by being 1 shot whenever get gets in range of anything. He said inspecting showed mostly rank 40's in his side and probably the other.

This is really a good way IMO of losing new subscribers that just want to have FUN PVPing. In case Trion have not figured it out... being 1 shot by warriors in rank 40 gear is not what new people sign on for.

An even 5v5 match would be better than the whole match being decided by a few higher ranked players.

Anyway... the team picking algorithm seems a ripe royal mess. Why when we have mercs now is it possible for one side to just have warriors and clerics and say the other side mages and a few rogues and on top of this... one side have 4 heals and the other side have none? Upon further investigation find the side with no heals or warriors has some of their players as mercs on the other side as heals and warriors. (just an example I noted and is not an isolated incident).

I like PVPing as do a lot of people but it seems the team allocation algorithm still needs a drastic overhaul. Forget class balancing... will never happen... balance around the number of each class and their role in each warfront. Be bold and do what some other unmentionable game does and lock roles once people enter.

This game will expire rapidly when it reaches a critical mass where not enough people are in the pool for PVP and teams are just mashed together putting rank 40's along side unranked players.

I know a game with no gear progression and only skill required. Want to play me in it, you as a fresh player, so I can show you there is nothing unique about games that are 100% skill based and not progression based as far as getting stomped being a new comer? It's free....I can arrange a healthy 1 v 1.

Cryptic talk off - just progress and meet them. You can't just always run across people who are as fresh 50 as you. Just like in some FPS game I cannot avoid all the people who have been playing 2 years longer than me. Or even if it's new, I cannot avoid the players who are better than me (what we blame losing on in FPS instead of gear).

I can't see role balancing working because you can swap on the fly. I often switch between 3 different roles depending on the warfront or what I feel would best help the team at any given time. I do NOT want a feature that locks your role prior to joining or anything like that, the soul system is what makes Rift awesome.

There's alot of games I'll join and get on a team where everyone has =<6k HP, while the other team gets 4 r40s. I'd like to see some balancing for that, and please more matched games.

yea well the only way out id for them to split the 50 wf groups into forced prestige ranked groups which would bring back 3 hour queues.
atm how it is and as for complaining about it, its like putting a fresh 50 into an ID raid with a progression guild then complaining your dps is 1/4 of everyone elses,
the game does not end at 50.
imo if you cant handle it, do something else, theres plenty of other things to do in rift

There are big gear gaps, but Valor is the same and now everyone has access to the best gear.

The biggest problem with teams of low-ranked players is not lack of gear, it's that they get broken so easily. If a team of undergeared players groups up, focus fires and plays as a team, they have a chance of winning through effort and teamwork.

But if a group of undergeared players scatters, doesn't focus fire and doesn't play as a unit, then they have no chance at all.

IMO the second thing, not playing as a team, is the real killer.

Don't worry. You'll be up against rank 50 toons soon.

Teamwork is a huge help even for low ranking players, of course, but you can play as a team as proficiently as you can and if your healers get burned down because you can't protect them it isn't going to help at all. Been there many times. A gang **** is a gang **** even if you stick together.

Yep, those 2 days it takes to gear up is awful, i can definitely see somebody that would have stayed with the game long-term quitting over that.

When my Cleric alt hit 50 I immediately started PvPing. Yes I died quickly as I didn't use my main to gear up at all. It took me a whole lot of nothing to get PvP gear and used that to replace my greens and blues. Take your knocks, it's not like you don't get favor and prestige if you die.

Here's the thing about "mismatching" though- you can benefit from it as well.

I played around on my Warrior this weekend. She is level 50, and rank...5 or 6. I also am just learning how to PVP with her. I was consistently put in matches where I knew just from the people's names that they were R40. I was against premades as well. But you know what? I had R40s on my own team. People were healing me and helping me out. So while I had enemies that were higher rank, I also had teammates that were as well. Goes both ways.

So many carebears. People just want **** handed to them. PVP is a rollercoaster. It's also more demanding then any other part of the game, in terms of skill and dedication. Stop whining about getting your **** pushed in and grind out the gear to start being more competitive. Along the way, hopefully being forced to play agint players more geared and skilled than you will make you a better pvper in the long run. Or just stop pvping and go slay dragons.
Unrated -- Now show me on this doll where the mean rogue touched you.
